Floor pan corrosion - advice please!

A quick update. I found myself with a free weekend day so thought I'd have a go at my first welding job. I've played around with a welder before but only tarting around with garden tools etc. for this I used my ebay special MIG, a cheaply grinder and a big hammer. As seems to be usual, when...

    Wow, want to swap?

    My new puma :D

I did this when I sold a modified Civic Type R many moons ago. I put on the forums what I had and what standard parts I needed in return, you'd be surprised how readily folks jump at the chance to swap their standard bits plus cash for modified bits. It then opens a lot more potential buyers as...

    Sheffield 1.7 newbie

Wait until you see the price of consumables and service parts! I did a full service on it and all quality filters, spark plugs and oil came to 40 quid delivered. New quality discs and pads for the front - 36 quid. It's awesomely cheap to maintain :)

    Window Seals

Mine did that. Annoying. I stopped it by using an old plastic card (Matalan, but I'm sure a Butlin's room key would work too) to tease the rubber out - lower window, plastic card in, shut window. Leave it for a little while and it should gradually form back correctly. May need to repeat if...

Floor pan corrosion - advice please!

I've done a teeny bit of welding and have a MIG setup so it's deffo an option. Spot on - that's the case here. The strengthener plate looks sound now I've got it back to metal. Surprisingly, the inner sills seem fine, I've had a good poke down with a torch through the access holes. There's...

Floor pan corrosion - advice please!

Hello all. I've just started looking over my puma for the first time after picking it up a few weeks back. I've stripped out the interior to be greeted with the following: Mostly surface rust without penetration or weakening the structure. On the drivers side there is a hole that you could...

Really cheap (new) eBay wheels - are they terrible?

Tis a moot point anyway as those particular ones are no longer available it seems. But yes, spigot rings would be required to sleeve down the 65.1mm to 63.4. They're about a tenner for a set of four in aluminium.

 Glad you're okay and seeing the positives :) Looks unpleasant, can't have been fun :(

Really cheap (new) eBay wheels - are they terrible?

Ok, so after further looking around it seems that the wheels that I was looking at are available in different offsets including ET35, 25 and 15. Annoyingly the ET25 and 15 are 30 quid and the ET35 is 80 quid. So... It's possible (desirable?) to run a lower offset on the rears - filling the...

Really cheap (new) eBay wheels - are they terrible?

Indeed - the pic shows a 5 stud but it's definitely a 4x108. I'm running standard suspension and 195 section tyres at the moment and there is definitely more than 10mm between the tyre face and the lip protrusion. I was aware of the offset difference but wouldn't that effectively just provide...

Really cheap (new) eBay wheels - are they terrible?

I'm looking for some cheap wheels to throw some different rubber around on the puma, 15" as tyres are delightfully cheap compared to 16" I've seen a few really dirt cheap brand new wheels on ebay - anyone had any experience of them? Are they made from Brie? Stuff like this...

    st 170

The box will require some modifications to fit - at the very least mounting brackets/driveshafts... Certainly not plug 'n' play. There are more ways of getting 'grunt' - is the goal more power/torque or more relaxed motorway speeds? Edit: just seen your build thread :D power is not an issue...

    Kungfugerbil's black shed

Little jobs this week as I only seem to get five minutes to myself after 10pm and can't imagine my rendition of the national anthem on the angle grinder would go down too well with the neighbours. Or the sleeping kids. Or the cat. Still, interior trim attacked and door clipped to within an inch...

Another custom inlet thread!! with a carbon twist!!

Sorry, I misread your post. That's the thing with 'race' type plenums - they are all about the higher rev ranges as on a track that's all you will ever experience. Personally on the puma I think the gear ratios and nature of the engine are such that you wouldn't be missing out if you had one...
