    Brake Light Proplem

For info...a 5p piece (1p would probably do if you're feeling tight) blu-tacked to the top of the pedal arm is a handy interim fix!

    Brake Light Proplem

Happy Christmas all and a re-awakening of this thread to celebrate... I have the same problem as above (brake lights stay on after releasing the pedal). I checked the switch and position/connector are ok - not dislodged. The problem is repeatable almost 100% of the time (sitting watching the...

    Mounting an FRP inlet manifold

For the sake of a few £ on top of what the FRP manifold cost I would always recommend a new gasket. +1 for resetting the ECU (disconnect battery for 30 mins) to clear MAF adaptions - it's good practice even if it's unlikely to be the cause in this case.

    Brakes??

Cheers guys, I'll just go for standard replacement shoes/fitting kit then. I get a discount at Ford so can hopefully get a good deal on the parts...failing that GSF have a brake parts sale on

    Brakes??

Does anybody have any wisdom on the benefits of upgrading the rear drums to 200mm? I have a '99 car with the smaller brakes and I'd say their performance borders on dangerously bad! ST150 front upgrade is on my wishlist and also new shoes for the rear. I wondered if it would be prudent/easy...

Am I burning a lot of oil?

Cheers guys. Should be able to lay my hands on a compression tester so will check that and fingers crossed rule out cylinder liners/piston rings but can't say I'm optimistic! £150-200 seems to be the going rate for a 1.7 engine on ebay if the worst comes to the worst... :-)

Am I burning a lot of oil?

Hello all - a little advice on the topic of oil burning if possible. I've been aware that my Puma ('99 1.7 130k) has been using oil quite quickly since I serviced it with 5W30 Castrol Magnatec. Since its service in early June, I have now added my entire 1L bottle of "top up" oil. I changed the...

    accelerator pedal

Good shout - used emery cloth and then a little lithium grease around the edge of the butterfly and spindle, feels great now!

    cold air feed

Any good? I think I'll have a go at the standard parts -> cold air feed option!

    accelerator pedal

I believe you! What did you use to clean it?

    accelerator pedal

Yeh, I've spotted this but strangely only after I removed the TB to replace the gasket. There's a sticker on top of the throttle telling me not to clean it with good ol' carb cleaner because of the coating on the butterfly. Is there anything in this or have people used it successfully?

    Newbie with oil problem

hmm, rocker gasket was certainly leaking but having changed it for the genuine Ford article I'm still losing oil from somewhere! :? Edges of the rocker cover are bone dry now. Breather tube blocked somewhere maybe? Whereabouts are they located on the 1.7?

Just got first Puma for wife, but might steal it..

That's not bad arch rust by Puma standards! Mine is a '99 too and isn't too bad but is lumpier than that

    Spark Plugs (for 1.7)

Some argue that bottom end torque is better with the 1.3mm gap - although I'd imagine you'd have to be fairly in-tune with your engine to notice!
