From what I've experienced just avoid like the plague anything that renders the car Cat C/D. Pumas can be ridiculously cheap to repair but insurers seem to want as many of them scrapped as possible!
Got one now and checked all the usual stuff and it seems to be all OK. It's a fantastic car for the money and is one great motor. It's not as much fun or anywhere near as nice to drive as the Puma as a drivers car but it's great on the motorway
Have been looking around for a more motorway miles performance coupe recently and realized that a 330 might be a good option. I'm looking at the E46 with around 120k miles which can be picked up for about £2-3k
Anyone got any experience/advice?
thanks
Ahhhhh guys so many great options for engines!!!!!!
I understand that the 1.7 is a properly great engine and I am always a massive defender of it when people come to criticize the Puma as it's light and reasonably powerful - It's able to keep up with a Mk 2 Focus ST up to 100 mph with just...
Thanks for all the answers - I've now looked at insurance and for 3rd party F+T its £715 through Compare the Market declaring the following;
SDPC Insurance
10K Year Miles
Front and rear spoiler
Up rated brakes
Engine swap (non standard engine)
Non standard paintwork (spoiler is wrapped and...
Hi tanks for the responses
I was looking at replacing the engine anyway as it is reasonably high mileage (130k) and the 2.0 Zetec turbo was recommended as a possible replacement
More or less as the title suggests.
After chatting with a local mechanic they suggest fitting the 135BHP Zetec blacktop engine with some modification to the engine mounts.
I know this is only a small power increase but with the addition of the turbo kits available for it would this be a...
Great thanks - I will get the two bits back together.
It's a shame that it broke but I'm not sure how strong it was in the first place. I plan to wrap it once the seal has set so hopefully that will give it a bit of extra strength.
Thanks
Unfortunately while attempting to fit the spoiler it broke. Snapped at the top where it curves around.
Would some Tigerseal hold the two bits back together strongly enough for it to be used?
Thanks
