I get water into the passenger footwell when it rains hard. The rain water seems to get in over the bottom of the door seal and despite changing the seal and trying it with bits cut out I have never managed to cure the problem.
By way of a follow up I changed the thermostat last month and everything is now OK again. My car has AC and getting the old thermostat out was very difficult. I actually had to drop the radiator, bend the AC pipe a bit to get clearance and use quarter inch drive sockets from an old set to get to...
Yes that was my conclusion too. I have ordered a new thermostat but it does look a pig of a job to change one compared to what is a simple job on many cars.
My scanner showed the coolant temperature as 185F which converts to 85C which seems a reasonable value to me. When I took the reading the gauge had moved up to near the middle but had taken a long time to do so. It used to get there after about 10 minutes or so but today I te engine had been...
Thanks for your reply DOH. My temperature gauge eventually moves up to nearer the middle but it takes a long time. This points to a thermostat sticking open and maybe it was just a coincidence that the problem seemed to occur after I changed the coolant sensor. I will do a check of the various...
I changed the coolant sensor on my 9/1999 1.4 Puma after Forscan showed up a coolant temperature circuit error, After this the needle on my temperature gauge which previously sat in the middle when hot now stays very much lower. Does the temperature gauge pick up its signal from the coolant sensor?
Failing that it could be that the gear which drives the speed sensor has stripped and needs to be replaced. Try spinning the end of the cable in the speed sensor with an electric drill while it is connected to the harness. If the speedo works this indicates that the sensor is OK and there is a...
On Friday the speedo on my 1.4 Puma stopped working on my way home.
I was worried that the key had lost its link with the immobiliser but diagnostics showed a code for a problem with the speed sensor so on Sunday I had a good look at this but I found it very difficult to get at both the sensor...
My LHD Puma leaks water into the driver's side footwell when it rains. It seems to somehow get past the door seal. I have tried all sorts of remedies but have never been able to totally eradicate the problem.
The original problem posted by demonskull13 and which I have also experienced is not the same as the well known grating issue when the wheel is turned but involves an impeding of the wheel when it is being turned. It feels as if the steering is going to lock up and is not a happy experience.
I had the same experience with my 1.4 last year. It only happened occasionally but it was very disconcerting to feel that the steering wheel was being impeded from turning. It felt as if something was catching in the steering wheel housing. Oddly enough though as I made my mind up to strip the...
