Timing problems

Having issues with Puma's timing. It keeps jumping on the advance/inlet side. It has played up before, was sorted and ran for a few weeks no problems but on a 6hr long round trip (in which it ran perfectly) right at the end it started suddenly running rough. Timing checked and it had jumped a...

FRP 591, FRP replica, plus turbo conversion project

Just went through this thread as not seen it before.... that's one pukka Puma. Fair play, it's taken a fair bit of skill, patience and not a few shekels from the look of it. Very impressive. :ok:

Hi Sinisa, Always in awe of the level of skill involved here.... which makes me all the more tickled pink you've given the Deox C a go too! I'm still looking for a neighbour with a pool to drop the shell in  but Bilt do a gel version of the powder which you can coat surfaces in if you need it?...

Dedicated Track Car Progress Thread

360719 Hi G-Whizz It might have been your thread where I picked up on Deox C stuff. Apologies for not giving you the credit for putting me onto this... The fact it`s inert on pretty much everything except rust (and grazed knuckles!) is really handy. I`m eyeing up my upper engine mount. Just need to...

Dedicated Track Car Progress Thread

Used Deox-C a few months ago on some very rusty ST170 calipers (details in my thread) and thoroughly agree Stu. :ok: I was talking to Pete Hamber who said you could even just drop them in the solution 'whole' and it wouldn't affect the seals but I was doing a full recon anyway. It's great stuff, che...

The "If I can do it, you can" thread...

I confess to a tiny shred of guilt but mainly to a big slice of smile at getting the links & 'bones done (& my front wheels balanced) for £25  I was quite happy to have a crack at it but with the MOT pressing & my jack not following suit I figured this was one of those "discre...

MOT sorted, just one advisory for an oil leak from that annoying pattern rocker gasket I've been meaning to change for ages... and now I have! Huzzah! It's also had new links & 'bones, though I must confess, I didn't do 'em  this was down to my jack playing up and my mechanic mate kindly ...

The "If I can do it, you can" thread...

360490 The only thing of note... do a 1 inch (2.54 cm) circle of bright metal around the bulkhead thread hole (2 mins with Dremmel or Stanley knife + coarse sandpaper) and you'll have a true earth contact that even the gods themselves would be proud of. Btw told you that PlusGas was good, didn't I?...

First, cheers to those who took the time to respond to my "Help Me!" thread re. my locked up lambda. :ok: So, I'd noticed the Puma wasn't running smoothly & was a little smokey. I initially feared that maybe the previous cambelt trouble hadn't been such a lucky escape after all and had...

RICHARD MANSFIELD2 wrote:Qr Bbpost Hi,
This will probably be my last post on this thread. Regrettably due to a drastic change in my circumstance this Puma is now up for sale.
A full add. will appear in the for sale section.

Lambda won't budge

360452 Cut the wires, use a 22mm impact socket and a breaker bar and swing on the bastard. That'll get it out. Hi TG, Funnily enough, that's EXACTLY the strategy I've settled on (with a Plusgas soak for good measure) as measured the sensor plug and realised I should just get a deep impact socket on...

Lambda won't budge

360421 In case it's not obvious (tbh I'm never sure what is obvious to other people or not) in addition to just spraying a fixing with PlusGas, it's far more effective if you then soak a cotton pad or piece of kitchen roll in it and wrap that around the fixing and rubber band it. It acts like a min...

360412 Hi Greg If it's not sorted soon my hex spanner will sort it when you come over :-) Barry Hi Barry, cheers but will need to be sorted before as can't see it getting through MOT otherwise. Lambda won't budge

360410 1) Leave to soak overnight with plus gas. (GT85 is also very good at loosening rusted parts). 2) get manifold as hot as possible by running car until rad fan kicks in 3) try to undo, if it still won't budge , try doing it up clockwise until it moves, then undo. 4) I have used a very long 22m...

360398 ... will refrain from offering any advice on this (not least because this is precisely the type of job that I'd get some other poor slob to do) ...PlusGas is your friend for a job like that and always seems to work (I don't mean friend literally, of course, it's just an expression) :-) Hi Fr...

Lambda won't budge

I need to replace my lambda for MOT but it's staging a sit-in, can't get it to move. It's the pre-cat and am using a 22mm lambda socket but it's so tight in there that when applying torque instead of loosening it's simply spreading the jaws on the socket & slipping off. Tried WD40 & also run...

Barry Aye, leather, I did wonder if they were a re-trim but the chap reckons not? Maybe an option in '99, or even a Euro interior? I like th...
