Hillclimb and sprint Puma

So after the topic on Facebook I've been told to bump this thread and update it! Sadly my car is currently SORN. It's off the road having some minor works undertaken and saving some ££ to invest in it. I need a new catalytic converter (pot hole damaged) and replacement battery, and hopefully some ca...

Fibreglass Panels - Potential New Supplier

I'd be interested in a lightweight bonnet and boot lid, but I'd need costs and weight before committing

Hillclimb and sprint Puma

After a long time out, I had my first event of the year, Farnborough autosolo. I came 1st in class and 12th overall, here are a few photos (hopefully this works), borrowed from Facebook. I can't wait for the next event, but think I'll be outclassed as the next one the class is upto 2l, so you end up...

Re: Hillclimb and sprint Puma

It was good to meet you, and from the video you had the use of the handbrake down perfectly. You look quicker through the tighter stuff with the handbrake.

To be honest my car is not ideal for solo. With its tiny steering wheel.

Are you doing the Oxford one?

Re: Hillclimb and sprint Puma

So, autosolo yesterday. 8 in my class, 4 of them puma's!

I ended up winning my class, with puma's 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th. I think over recent years they are coming back as Motorsport cars. I think that could be my lot of events for the year now. I may squeeze in another but we will see.

Re: Distance after fuel light

For hills to keep the fuel (and weight) low. I regularly run the car with the needle below the empty mark.

Although fuel roulette is a favourite past time of mine

Re: Puma 4x4 Cosworth

Very nice car and work.

My initial concern is there are a lot of low down pipes at the front of the engine asking toocatch on a wayward speed hump.

Have you thought about a sump guard, or aero flat floor (extend the splitter back) just to protect them from catching?

And a couple from inside.

You can see where the door cars need fibreglassing over the sections I had to cut to fit them

Re: My latest Racing Puma track project.

Very nice Warren, I'll watch this thread with interest. Are you going to lower the compression by a lot? Also where did you get the scuttle from? Im sticking the throttle body before the supercharger as thats how the m62 is designed to operate. It has a built in bypass flap valve. That was the bypas...

Re: Hillclimb and sprint Puma

Then, my first child was born in October, and the house needed some major work, which basically put a halt to 2015 season before it started. however over the early months of the little one I managed to finish the reshell and add a few additions. prep for roll cage http://i211.photobucket.com/albums/...

Re: Bucket Seats

Seat installs are very specific, Everyone is a different size. and the so called 'subframes' don't always make things easier. I just worked out where I wanted my seat, distance from wheel how far down etc, made a template then welded in some riser platforms from the floor pan and secured the seat di...

Re: Hillclimb and sprint Puma

Its a re-shell but maybe not this year. The season is front loaded so I'm not going to rush to fix so my championship challenge is over.

I'm Going to wait for the right shell and work on the issues I discovered building this one. But I have to say I love the puma!

Re: Hillclimb and sprint Puma

Werrington hill climb, Saturday went well. Although its very much a power hill, I really pushed the car and managed to place in class beating a lot of more expensive machineary. Sunday happened I was going well on the runs but competition was really tight and I knew I had to really push the car on t...
