Also just bought my first Puma

Hi and welcome. Heated seats and reversing camera? Just get a thick jumper if it's cold  and the Pumas aren't too long so you'd be fine, the only issue is the visibility due the coupe design, so reverse slowly if necessary. The only change I did was to get a 3inch tailpipe Sportex back box, th...

Boiled my fluid - what should I check please?

Just for future references if this happens to others, just turn the engine off immediately or the engine can get damaged and let it cool down. Do not open the cap while it's still hot as the steam will burn you!! The steam can leave from the cap it's designed like that.

Another.....what’s it worth

Sounds like a really good example, especially the no rust part, but did you check behind the wheel arches and other spots as well, cause they probably are after 18 years. :| plus even if she's got 12 MOT and service done, stuff like cambelt and other bits very possibly needs changing as well which c...

Are irridium sparks plugs still a thing?

Hi all, I've heard good things about those spark plugs, like the throttle reacts a bit better and that, but the question is, is it good to use it on a 17 years old engine? Also is this a good one: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4-x-NGK-Iridium-Spark-Plugs-FORD-PUMA-1-7-16V-ZETEC-97/290575015550?fits=Car...

Loose wing mirror cover

Hi I came back from holiday and found the right side wing mirror cover was sitting a bit away from its holder. It stays on but I can move it a bit into any directions and when I push it back it kinda jumps back to have that gap again. The mirror hasn't been folded since I got the Puma, which was 3 y...

Parcel shelf....quick cheap fix.

MY METHOD: I just tied 2 knots on top of each other at the bottom on each side. Done.
That made the ropes tight and only came off once in the last few months :)

Behind the centre cap

Some low-life stole one of the centre hub from my alloy, and behind there is a nut/hole visible now. Not sure if that's how it'd be, as on my previous car there was a u-shaped pin as well. Is that how the Puma should be as well? Just wanna make sure nothing else missing from there, don't wanna risk ...

Okay, thanks. So does it mean, earlier models are quiter than the later ones with the smooth surface?

Ribbed back box?

Just wondering when I saw a picture of the original Puma back box that's like ribbed all over. Was there a reason for that or that just how it had been made?

Needles

My puma 1.4 has developed a strange affliction. When I turn the ignition on, all the needles on the dashboard fly round to the right, stay there for a couple of seconds and then return to rest. Any ideas as to what could cause this please. As Yog said, battery, mine did the same, got new one and th...

rear wiper arm nut cover

362155 I got them! It comes in a luxurious crappy black plastic finish. PM me your address details or work, whatever your comfortable with and I'll put in the mail today. I don't want anything for it, it's better off keeping water of your nut than sitting in my loft museum :-) Hi Mk02, I need one t...

What edition is my Puma?

Yes it looks like the first buyer didn't like extras. The boot light and it's components are completely missing, probably been covered by the fabric. Not sure if the boot lid has been replaced or not, but the shade of the paint matches the whole car. I wanted a 3rd brake light, but it would cost too...

What edition is my Puma?

I know there's many different editions of Pumas, but not sure which one is mine, if any. It's a 2001, 1.7 Colorado Red. Things she hasn't got: electric mirrors, 3rd break light, CD player, aircon, leather seats (don't fancy them anyway), rear wing, boot light, not even the spot where the whole devic...

Loud BANG and the car started to roll forward??!!

Sorry for the late reply, tablet''s screen was broken. I might began to understand what could've happened. I always pull the handbrake up with the button held, so doesn't make that rattle noise. I had a quite bad day then and I was well unfocused and probably, when I was applying the hand brake, I m...

Loud BANG and the car started to roll forward??!!

Hi guys. I'd parked the car on a bit of a downhill yesterday and after pulling the hand brake up and locking the doors, I walked a few steps away and suddenly heared a loud "bang". I thought someone had thrown something at the car and broke one of the windows, noise was really loud, but when I turne...
