Someone who actually knows what they are doing!?

Haha yeah that's what I keep telling my partner! He loves the Puma but any time I get something done to it "You could have saved that money and got yourself a new car" Yep, I could but it wouldn't be as fun. That and the amount of money I've spent on her already would have just been a wast...

Someone who actually knows what they are doing!?

Yeah that's what I thought.
Not going to be able to get another decent car for that price either and she runs beautifully so it's worth it.

I swear that car will bankrupt me one day

Someone who actually knows what they are doing!?

It's not just for the bushes. Think it was about £200 for all the welding that needs doing in a few places, £130 for the bushes, £20 difference for the Gasket, £50 for the MOT then the rest is VAT and labour. To be honest the suspension bushes were the next on my list to get replaced and at least I ...

Someone who actually knows what they are doing!?

Good News - It wasn't a genuine rocker so it's now been replaced with a genuine Ford one.

Bad news - Failed MOT due to rust and knackered suspension bushes. Going to cost £450 to get put right :'(

Someone who actually knows what they are doing!?

No idea if it was genuine or not, will find out when I take her in tomorrow. Even if is genuine, the fact that they've cross threaded the bolt isn't a great sign either! I've had a look at the thread and there were 2 garages listed that are local but it seems they no longer exist or they've been ren...

Someone who actually knows what they are doing!?

I am in desperate need of a garage or someone who knows what they're doing with a 1.7 Puma as anywhere I have taken my car to get work done just results in me out of pocket and still left with the same issue! Last year I had an issue with the ABS for about 6 months. It took a couple of months just t...

Driving Test

353553 Congratulations on Passing, that was a long time between tests, I did 6 lessons failed, 2 more lessons and passed. That was 25 years ago, 30 min drive and identify about 5 road signs on flash cards in a book. Test has changed a bit now, and what you can drive once passed is far less :!: I ha...

Driving Test

Update:

No problems with using a Puma in your driving test it seems as I Passed my test yesterday morning

One disadvantage of having a Puma as your first car however, my insurance doubled   definitely worth it though and would not be without my Stormfly!

Intermittent Noise

Update: Since my partner had a look a few weeks back and poked around we have not heard the noise. Whether he's done something or it's sorted itself out we don't know but we've done nearly 150 miles in her since and no sign *touch wood* so far. The main worry for me was if it happened during my driv...

Thanks again Ian! I'm hoping it's what you're suggesting and we don't need to worry about paying any more than we already have. By my partner looking at it, it looks like the garage hasn't even touched the passenger side at all! You can tell they've had the drivers side out as it was all fairly easy...

352736 Wouldn't even bother inspecting visually, the absence of something obvious doesn't mean that corner is OK, largely a waste of time until its been diag'd properly. Unfortunately getting a proper diagnosis is our problem, nothing has been flagging up on any tests which is why it's been so diff...

352678 What about the ABS tone rings.. I read that the sensors have been replaced but obviously there's two parts here. It could be a dodgey tone ring and the front ones are relatively exposed and so maybe slightly damaged. Either that or too rusty! I believe only the back sensors and rings have be...

352636 That does sound all rather frustrating, if the light is coming on you'd have thought that the fault would be identifiable. I do hope that the read flags up a code! It is! What makes it worse is I've got my driving test in 3 weeks which I've put off for long enough because of this issue. I'm ...

Update: Got the car back last Thursday - Guys at the garage couldn't get her to make the noise once the whole time they had her and didn't want to send the pump off as they believe it would cost more than the car is worth to get repaired. Instead they cleaned the sensors and all of the contacts and ...

It's been a few months and still getting nowhere with the noise. I've lost count how many times she's been in and out of the garage and even the mechanics are baffled as to what is actually causing the problem. So here's what's been done so far... Failed MOT last month due to rust and questionable p...

Yeah I know, this is originally why my mates dad was looking into it as his mate was able to do a few things on the cheap for us before when I first got the car. We got a recording!!!! http://vocaroo.com/i/s0lbZWM1Jjmc It kicks in at 5-6 seconds. The recording was sent to my mechanic a week ago and still waiting on a response, so in the meantime if anyone here can tell what it is by the noise then I would be grateful. I still believe it's the ABS after watch...

346285 The ABS dashboard light will only come on in the event of a system fault, failed self test, or a faulty sensor. It sounds like yours could actually be doing what it should by activating the ABS in response to a bad signal from a misaligned sensor. As I've said, I could be barking up the wron...

346281 The ABS only becomes active when the brake pedal switch is activated. So even if you're not pushing down on the pedal it could still operate the switch and make the ABS kick in. I'm not 100% certain that this is your problem, but it does sound like it could be. I'm hoping that's what it is a...

Thank you, Paul.

I'm hoping that you're right!

The only issue is that it doesn't happen when braking, I only noticed the vibration off the break pedal when I had my foot over the brake as I was about to push down on the pedal. If it is the ABS, would it do this without the brakes being applied?
