Mk1 Focus RS powered Puma, now going RWD, JWRC

366269 Hi moondustka first up what an amazing project I'm in awe of your Puma! Unfortunately they're not a car we ever got down here in Australia. Apologies for taking this a bit off topic but I was hoping for some advice on my own project, based very much on your original KA project on passionford...

New wheel arch panels.....

366080 Is it possible to get new front wings anywhere? I just had my car assessed (2001 model - had it 12 years now) to be undersealed. Guy advised getting new sills and new front wings. I found the place for new sills (£150 per side,)...anyone suggest where/if I can get new front wings? The thing ...

I was thinking a disused airfield.

I'm not keen on a track day as there will be other cars around. I need lots of tarmac and lots of grass run off!

Something like the Top Gear test track would be perfect.

366078 True. Its gonna be a huge balancing act and you'll only really know once you get it on the road/track for some testing. Plenty of seat time and mileage and you'll get it dialed in eventually. You're dead right, Dave said the same thing. Some of it we will only know once it's built and then a...

Thanks. I knew it was more than just chucking the engine in the back, but there’s even more to it than I thought! I actually need to ask Dave’s advice on brakes as I think for obvious reasons the car will need more than the standard split at the rear. Not sure if I can get that through the ABS modul...

Hi Jay, The raised mount point for the front of the lower arm/wishbone is to remove the ‘anti-dive’ from the front of the car to get some weight transfer towards the front under braking and cornering (now that there’s no engine weight). The rear bush ideally needs to be a bit lower but considering i...

Adaptions top the front subframe. This raises the front mounting point of the lower arm. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4478/37382091180_5d2747121c_k.jpg https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4443/36969547493_330895017b_k.jpg https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4459/37641037511_b4b5b5133f_k.jpg https://farm5.st...

Didn't look that busy? and you seemed to have a clear run, which is preferable as less chance for things to go wrong!

Was it busy at Trax in general?

Got another update.. New suspension turrets with adjustable top mounts have now been done. They need some sleeve nuts to fix them though I think, there is just a spacer (comes with the adjustable mounts) resting there in these photos. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4511/37240087260_ca2a7bafab_k.jpg ...

I'm really pleased with how it's turning out. Call me Naive but I didn't think that 2-3mm made that much difference in bush position, for example, in terms of geometry, but that's sometimes all the difference! Dave has thought it all through and explained how and why it's been done the way it has. A...

Fair enough! I've had some of there springs and a few other bits with no probs.

I don't think you'll need the springs too much harder once they're longer.

Barry, you can all sorts of 2 1/4' springs from rallydesign.co.uk

They sell different rates and lengths. You need longer springs on the front by the looks of it, probably another inch at least.

It's one way of getting rid of rusty arches

The rest of it on the car isn't that bad, mostly surface now - just a few holes in the floor to sort and a little more at the rear of the sills.

The S1600/S1700 is available off the shelf or within 2 weeks usually. But I agree the cost of it makes it unobtainable for most people.

Is yours easy enough to bolt on and off in the pits?

Sounds good.. I imagine then that the S1600/S1700 rear wing should do a similar job then as I thought that had been designed for stability in corners.
