Re: Puma Cutting off

Same issue was present on mine. Simple check is to disconnect the switch. If the problem remains the same, you have to replace the switch. Mine was about €25 at Ford's.

Re: REAR COILOVERS WANTED

If someone sells a complete kit, I am interested in the front struts. Doesnt matter which condition, make etc. They just need to stay on the car for a month or so (warranty issue on my coilovers).

Re: FRP Sparco pretensioners & mounts

I'm not sure about the material but i'd figure any good metalworker can make them. If you really can not find measurements let me know. I have them in my car, but will need to get them out to measure. If someone has them loose it'd be way easier :)

Re: Rev counter signal

Or get it just after the gearbox sensor. I did for removing the limiter. I think it is the white wire running from the sensor (top of gearbox) to the ECU & dashboard.

Re: Ford Puma - 'the exhilarating drive'

In the autoslalom I am better than most Honda Civic/CRX cars. I can follow the BMW's in the corners but I will lose on the straight sections. Usually the field is comprised of various FWD hot hatchbacks and some BMW 320's (my competition really) and 330's / M3 / M5's. I lose to them. Recently a car ...

Re: Modern Puma equivalent.

When it comes to driving feel the Renault Clio GT, not RS, came closest my Puma. Once had one for a test for two weeks. Damping characteristics were quite close, cornering speed as well. When straight line driving the Puma was better though caused by the high damping coefficient of the Clio. Edit: w...

Re: oil change?

Usually every two autoslalom races + 4000 km. In winter times I change every 10.000 km without track time. I am lucky and just bring a sample to our company's oil lab if in doubt :)

Re: Splitters + Spoilers

Balance is everything when it comes to the right setup. I played around a lot before I found decent settings for mine. Luckily nearby is an abandoned airfield for some proper testing. I'm running on the stock 'propellor' wheels. A front strutbar might help however I'd first try and find the best set...

Re: Splitters + Spoilers

Can you suggest a shock set up? I've got AVO GTZ coilovers on it at the moment. Damping on the front is set about midway, the rear is a little stiffer to be fair as it was bottoming out on bumpy roads. I'm sure I've read your gurney post somewhere, I will try to find it and have another look. I als...

Re: Splitters + Spoilers

I fitted a gurney flap on the rear, it adds a calculated 6,7% increase in downforce (at 55m/s) therefor reducing the difference in lift between front/rear axle and giving a more stable car. I got a calculated increase in drag of 1,3% however I will need to re-calculate that. My colleague and I got d...

Re: Petra Puma stalling

Don't forget to check the clutch pedal sensor! Defo worth checking this, I've had some amazing fun caused by dirty contacts to the clutch switch /\ :-) Same here until it broke off and fell on my foot.. I had allready spent many hours trying to diagnose the car until then. For me the main symptom w...

Re: Torque limiter removal, ECU way

I bought a rear wiper switch and have cut the speedo wire. It was the fastest and easiest way for me. I use the un-limiter on track only, so there is no need for the speedometer to work. I don't have time to look onto it.

I'd presume red ones. They are the only ones with the cheaper non-metallic paint. Mine doesn't even have any rust protection at all on some places!

Re: Weigh reduction bhp/ton

Do you think a passenger's weight benefits the handling? It increases weight, but does it balances the centre of mass? Same about spare wheel, full tank... Don't think. As the weight is rather high in the vehicle it will only be a negative effect. If you really want to balance the vehicle I'd sugge...

Re: Weigh reduction bhp/ton

By removing exactly what you state in the first post I managed to get 960 kg +/- 5kg on the weigh bridge at work. It's an amazing difference and your number are pretty close to reality :)

I did carry a lunch box  and a spare wheel + standard jack, near full tank of gas.

Re: Fuel hose -out of production-

Just made a call to Germany, unfortunately their parts division can't help me after 16:00.. Will try again on Monday.

Also make sure you call Bernd. He is a master in finding long gone parts

PS: don't e-mail just call, way quicker and they usually do more effort 8-)

Re: Fuel hose -out of production-

Try googling on Ford 1131635. Your dealer did get the part number right. The older version is the 1014328. I'm not sure how reliable those sites are but atleast they are offering it. I guess if you pay by Paypal your kinda safe in case it doesn't turn up or something  Any luck with the German ...

Re: Fuel hose -out of production-

Contact the Ford dealer in Spijkenisse, they have a really good parts guy. He sourced the most impossible to find parts for me. Once they had to order it 7 times to get the right one but multiple phone calls to Germany apparently pulled it off :) Shouldn't it be possible to get a standard size fuel ...

Re: What did Yamaha do to the engine?

The 1.7 was originally even meant to be used in a Puma RS Turbo too  Apparantely two prototypes were made, one still existing. In the end the decision fell for the Focus ST/RS as they saw more sales potential for this.
