WANTED: rear beam

Anyone got a rear beam knocking about? Needs to be straight (obviously). Somewhere in reach of SW London to be ideal.

thanks!

345763 Even if you don't want to buy secondhand for the reasons outlined above, the rule changes also mean manufacturers are trying to get rid of Snell SA2010 accredited helmets which are perfectly good and now heavily discounted. whys that ? AFAIK SA2010 and SA2015 both have the same end of life a...

Solution for the PSF bubbling over everywhere: https://scontent-lhr3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpt1/v/t1.0-9/s720x720/12274420_10206788362500881_2395512114383656080_n.jpg?oh=42d999905550fb0a12d4570f5e5d30ab&oe=56DE5503  Bigger capacity so same volume of PSF only half fills it and contains two...

Power Steering reservoir hose sizes?

Can anyone tell me the internal diameter of the hoses that connect to the PSF reservoir?

Thanks in advance...

Re: First Rally!

Well done, but an event that will be remembered for the wrong reasons. Love the last pic! Caution with the light bars - I think they don't deliver what they promise quite yet. I am sure they'll improve but I've heard mixed reports and they're very expensive at the moment. Maybe put a pair of corner ...

Re: Rally car reshell

id be wary of making the rear beam stronger, instead of just bending the bear which is easily replaceable you will end bending the shell / bear mounting points. Ditto with front wishbones. Is it worth taking a spare rear beam on single venue type events ? Yeah - my thoughts too. Sacrificial part et...

Re: Rally car reshell

Just doing SVs as an extended shakedown to get to know the car and it's handling and foibles. I want to get out into the Forests in the 2nd half of next year. It seems to have just bent the beam although I have also managed to whack the sumpguard with such force as to crease the inner wing which in ...

Re: Rally car reshell

Thanks Red. Having cut my teeth in a Challenge-spec 205 1600, the extra 50bhp was luxury and the handling was awesome. Neither a full-on Mk2 nor an Impreza WRC could shake us until the power sections.

Re: Rally car reshell

Did Wethersfield stages today. Managed to try the Puma out on some really fast bits (corners flat in 4th etc). We overcame a lot of the understeer on a sequence of 2nd gear corners that are almost designed to induce it but didn't eliminate it although left foot braking helped too. Suffered from fuel...

Re: Puma 1400 Rally Build

Well done for finishing, Johnny! Good to get the seat time in the car. We had a fuel starvation issue too - I'll be looking into getting a baffled tank. I'm not going to be offended in you getting different springs, honest! But I would like to understand why you are changing them? Was the handling p...

Re: First Rally!

P.S. if there is one Top Tip from me, it would be that it's the crests that catch you out more than the corners, so pay special attention to them on the recce.

Mull as a first rally is quite ambitious...still, there is a lot to be said for "learning by doing"!! Good luck and don't try and be a hero on SS1!

Re: Rally car reshell

At last some pics from TSH Stages last month. Loads of problems, many of them plain unlucky (intercom failed, ECU played up, door catch broke, window regulator packed up, throttle cable snapped) before the gearbox let go. Still, the handling was fab and it was mega-fun to drive when it was going so ...

Re: Puma 1400 Rally Build

I have started to put the car back together with the new springs but the fronts have been difficult as I have had to compress the helper springs to get the shock fitted. What rate are the helpers? I'm just using feeble ones @ 4 lb/in as they don't need to do much, so they compress easily. As far as...

Re: Puma 1400 Rally Build

I have news. I have spoken with Proflex who developed the Puma 1400 Kit Car and Ka Championship suspension with Gywndaf Evans. The springs used were 40 N/mm (228 lb/ft), 300mm (12in) for the fronts and 17 N/mm (97 lb/ft), 340mm (13.5in) for the rears. With Pumas probably a little heavier at the rear...

Re: Rally car reshell

Tarmac to start with, but not super-smooth. My theory is that if you get it working on tarmac / concrete then you can adapt it to gravel, but gravel testing from no setup at all is a bit hard. I have definitely benefited from screwing up in a test session rather than an event and all the cost that e...

Re: Rally car reshell

I was at Down Ampney with Gwynnespeed. Still looking for alternatives. Fulbeck last month was good but a long way from me and relied on my service chappie to organise with his local car club so kind of unofficial and not easy to repeat to order. Shout if you have any ideas!
