Yeah, that looks much nicer imo.

What's the textured bit on the dash inbetween the top of the head unit and beneath the clock?

I did a quote with Adrian Flux before the Puma was modified and for some reason they quoted me nearly £1500.

If I can feasibly get cheaper than this latest quote I might give them a call.

Guy at work knows all sorts of people and he's hooked me up with a contact in the next town who does bodywork repairs. Next on the agenda will have to be the bodywork. If this is going to be a long term project I need to ensure the rust and any potential rot is cut out ASAP. 30 quid to give the car ...

Puma 1.7 Rebuild Mk II

Here's a turn out - I just went on Confused and looked up insurance for the Puma with the modifications. It's somehow turned out nearly £150 cheaper than my renewal quotation for my standard Focus.

£572.21

For once I've been quoted happy. :o

Renewal letter for the car insurance on the Focus came through. 97 more a year. Cancelled the renewal and told J the last day the Focus is insured is the 28th. He confirmed he'd like the Focus to break for parts. Originally I'd said I'd sell it for £100. But I offered it to him for free - I just nee...

Puma 1.7 Rebuild Mk II

So I had a great chat with J yesterday and I'm definitely getting the car back before the end of the month. Now, I know a lot of dates have passed by where I thought the car would be worked on or possibly finished and when I asked if it would be finished before the Focus was due for it's MOT, his re...

Puma 1.7 Rebuild Mk II

Funnily enough, I've always been an impatient person. I can do nothing but wait as I'm still paying off my overdraft. I'd been impulsive getting the project underway without enough savings to cover it all. Having said that, if I had stuck to the original plan of an engine rebuild only I'd have been ...

Looking at Wednesday of next week. Some house moving and car issues on J's end. Not to worry though. We had a chat about the clutch on the Focus and he recommended putting it in 3rd and trying to pull away. No slipping on the clutch so it put my mind at rest somewhat. Anyway, as ever I'll keep you p...

Asides from the biting point being extremely high up there's no issues with revs or finding gears etc. Am I right in thinking the Focus clutch is hydraulic? Could it just need the fluid changing or topping up? Can't say I know how it works, but other than the biting point the clutch and gearbox seem...

Had a word with J on Sunday evening asking about the above and seeing how quickly the engine could go back in. Focus clutch is getting worse - biting point is less than a centimetre from the clutch pedal being fully released. Thankfully I've got Mon-Thu off and only have to drive into work on Friday...

I'm 6'4" and whilst it takes a little getting used to - you don't notice any major problems after a week or so. You just have to be careful getting in and out.

Work should start up again shortly. J is hoping for a couple of hours each day in the workshop. I've asked if the engine could be done and I get the car back as the clutch on the Focus is about to go and I don't want to be left without a car, or sink money into the Focus when I want rid of it within...

Of course, what this means in my mind is that I need an engine swap in my puma (ST180 engine?) and 300 bhp to do the plate some justice.

First day I got Gunny I bought it for £999. The same day I bought it I traveled to Essex and got the £450 eBay bargain I bought the day before buying the car installed. Probably stupid to buy performance parts before buying the car. I'm impulsive (stupid) like that. A complete Piper exhaust system, ...

Lorry broke down. J's moving is delayed until next week unfortunately. In other news, the overdraft took a hit when my PC died and Xmas came around. Looks to be paid off by April now. MOT on the Puma due in May as well as the Focus. Although that should be gone long before the MOT is due. However th...

Awesome, that's good to know. J said that whilst the engine is out, if I wanted to get a respray done he can get the engine bay done before the engine goes back in. I'm going to ask him how much it'd be and mull it over a bit more before making a decision. Could also do with getting the Vibra Techni...

Ah true, I didn't realise Ford did that colour.

I've seen a matte grey Puma on here before which looked good.

Made me think of the new Cupra's which have the matte grey with copper highlights. Looks damn good in my opinion.

Also mulling over colours. Probably a long way off a respray. I liked the ST orange Puma's I saw, but it's a little too garish.

I was thinking a metallic copper. Or maybe a mix of copper and sunburnt orange.

Puma 1.7 Rebuild Mk II

Hi all, Just had a chat with J and got a really good update. Half the engine rebuild is done. They're moving soon and he'll be next to the workshop which means the car can be worked on regularly. He also said as I've been patient waiting and helped them out, any further work can be paid in instalmen...
