Hi alanet,
I would recommend checking the driveshafts. There should be no movement at all, try grabbing it by hand and turning it. There should be no movement at all (gearbox in gear, wheels on the ground, handbrake aplied)

With time yes. But until it does you would have erratic idle again. Since you are unsure what the problem really is, I would take all the knowns out of the equation if I could. And idling etc you can. You are putting on another throttle body which is not new, so it has some leakage around butterfly....

He does have another throttle body he's going to try to see if this will solve the judder issue. As it's only occuring when the accelerator pedal is slightly pushed, he thinks the throttle body might be letting in too much air. If you decide to replace the throttle body, you will have to reset the ...

Just to report that JASAPP passed MOT again with flying colours! Had a bit of problem initally, but that was due to me, not the car! When I appeared at MOT station, the lady at reception desk reported that my ID has expired. And she was right. Surely I can approach MOT with driver's licence? ...

Lack of posts would implicate the car is running well now?
And I was reluctant, given your impulse nature of buying all the stuff we recommended worth checking
, to advise to you to check the TPS (Throttle position sensor) for the judder. The MAF is clean?

Ok, with all your modifications try now disconnecting the battery for few minutes to reset the PCM (ECU). Then start the car and let it idle until the fan comes on. In the process (while it is idling switch on the lights, cabin blower (to all positions), rear window heater, A/C if you got one and le...

No special gasket, you can put in two O-rings for the openings or cut your own gasket if needed.

Ed,
Replacing IAV - 5 min
Replacing VSS - 15 min (the battery and it's carrier have to go out)
Replacing MAF - 5 min
CV boot - that is a pig of a job as it is messy big time....
But the first 3 you can do on your own without problems...

IAV has to be somewhere on inlet manifold downstream of the throttle butterfly.
VSS is on top of gearbox and can't be relocated anywhere. But now that you have said this about cold start and not idleing at all, this is almost 100% IAV that is clogged and seized.

On a cold start, if I don't rev the engine it'll stall. When I let go of the accelerator coming up to junctions - it'll stall. It's a pain to be honest, and quite dangerous having to try and brake and accelerate whilst in neutral to keep the car going. OK, this is new diagnosis and this points to I...

On a side note - is there anywhere that sells headlight seals for the upper part of the headlight? Mine are sagging. J said it could be glued back on and one of the lights looks like it had been repaired in the past. Ed All is written. You just need to search for it.... https://www.projectpuma.com/...

Regarding cleaning: use brake cleaner and all the oil will be off in seconds. Regarding the engine issues, is your timing right? There is a special procedure for setting up the timing tensioner, is J aware of it? If he just bolted the tensioner without following the pin procedure (plenty of info her...

Well if it leaks while the car is stationary, it is not the breather. It would be spitting oil only on usage. Thsi would indicate the J diagnosed it correctly as failing driveshaft seals (what would imply to me that he was well aware they were od inadequate quality/condition in the first place). The...

J said he thought it might be the drive shaft seal. I recommended what you said too. Don't think it is a seal as the frontal area of gearbox is covered in oil. On top of the gearbox is the breather that enables the gearbox to 'breathe'. It shoud allow for the air to circulate, but not the oil. If i...
