Re: Emissions are too high

Just remembered, someone on here just used it I think on their MG that had bad emissions, no idea if that helped either as I believe it still failed emissions as Cat was ker-nackered.

Re: Emissions are too high

Yup, I used it on my RX8 when I first bought it to clean all the system out as the previous owner never drove it over 30mph for nearly 2 years. You should have seen the crap that came out of it, was bloody impressive although the other road users probably thought my engine had blown  No idea if...

Re: Newbie starting a project

Suprised no one has mentioned it, but cam belt will need doing if not been done recently (and by someone who knows what they are doing!). Can't remember the exact details but I think it's max of 5 years or 70k/80k miles, which ever is sooner. And when you get the clutch replaced make sure you get th...

Re: top nuts.

hahaha, I remember it taking me a few head scratching moments to work out how to drop the back seats. Weirdest place to put those release pullers ever!.

When I replaced my shocks (well, Chris Tye off here did them for me), he managed it with a bent spanner, so nothing needed removing.

Re: Driving 1.7 faster for the 1st time...WTF!

Yeah, happens a lot. Didn't need a mid range bike in my day. When I had my 2-stroke RG125 no car ever beat me off the lights but that was before they started restricting the hell out of them (I removed the simple washer in my exhaust and added a powervalve blank). Any bike with more than 30 bhp will...

yup, just drive it. Only car I know that has a warm up routine is my RX8 but I can still drive that straight away, just stops me from wringing it's neck until the rev limiter lights go out

Re: After 6 days of fixing, I drove her for the 1st time!

Only time I saw mine go close to the red was when I was at the Ring queuing to come off the track after a lap and it was a bloody hot day....I had to blast the heaters to keep it cool until I got off the track. Later on I fitted a switch so I could keep the fan running at all times if I wanted. Even...

Re: Had a crash, chassis bent, worth saving?

Chassis bent......that's far too vague for anyone to be able to say yay or nay. Pictures needed for anyone in the know on here to comment. Best bet would be to get a bodyshop/garage to take a look and tell you if it's possible to fix and still be roadworthy/legal to drive. Hope it's a yay to fixing ;)

Re: General Help Required.

Have you checked to see if the oil isn't coming from higher up the engine i.e. the rocker cover?

The engine is renowned for leaks from the cover. I think pretty much everyone has had that leak at one point.

Love it!!
I want it in all my car games especially Gran Turismo. No idea why it isn't in there, even my RX8 isn't but there's about 100 (no kidding) MX5's :(

Re: brake discs advice

I went for Mondeo/ST170 setup as I sourced a setup cheap (well, quite a few setups) and was very impressed with it compared to the standard crappy setup the car came with. Mondy setup is much easier to source and cheaper to boot. I wouldn't say the drilling out of the calipers was a nonsense as it's...

Re: Help!!

Yup, if I remember correctly Sky did something similar for myself but it was because I had both cars insured with them. I think they gave me 2 or 3 years NCB on the Puma as I used my "9+" (20+ years - this still pi$$es me off) NCB on the Rex. Insurance companies manipulate the rules to suit themselv...

Re: Hello from Teesside

Must have seen you guys round Stockton at some point as there did seem to be a fair few Pumas around when I had mine. If you see a decrepit old loon, hooning around in a black R3 RX8, that's me. It doesn't come out much but gets used properly when it does and when conditions allow

Was a while back for me but I too only had to send my log book to the DVLA with the engine change. I can believe this may have changed due to emissions.

Re: Regular flat battery

My Puma did this once, I thought it was just because it was sat so long but on investigation I had an LED courtesy light in mine and even when the doors were shut and it went out I noticed that it was drawing power as it was very, very dim. I moved the switch to off to check my eyes weren't deceivin...

I sold my Puma on here too and offered the nitrous separate though but at the price I let it all go at it was snapped up by same buyer.

Re: Bit of a newb with questions......Sorry!

I had it for 4 years, bought it with 44k miles, ZX1 went straight in, sold it with 82k. Had 4 trips to the Nurburgring in it where it was given a good thrashing legally hahaha....oh...and did I mention it also had a nitrous kit so was forced to take a hefty boost now and again. Engine when I sold it...
