    Puma replacement..harder than you think.

Well matey delivered the Suzuki swift sport today, and I have to say..its fab. Honestly like a modern puma..I was surprised how well it turns in,has a fabulous gearshift to match the pumas,as well as a punchy engine, that while needing more revs to release the power,it certainly flys when wound...

Suddenly can't open driver side door

yep..above is the correct thing to do...mine did this..i then sprayed everything with wd40..opened and shut a few times to free everything up with the spray. Also silicone spray on the window guides does wonders for the speed and efficiency of the windows closing correctly. Sprayed up,the...

    Reliability.

about right...same silicone spray fix for the stiff window,1 hcv after it exploded!..2nd hand from here..a few quid, then just general service parts...amazingly cheap to run car.

    Puma replacement..harder than you think.

Well,i went out and bought a Suzuki swift sport..just shy of 4 grand for a 08 model. That's top money for a phase 2 swift...but it has a full Suzuki service history. Now the dilemma ...do I keep the puma, and just bring it back up to its former glory. Mechanically is as sweet as a nut,with...

    Puma replacement..harder than you think.

I honestly don't think it will..its very long in the tooth now without a hint of the values going up..infact you can buy them for utter peanuts. It really is a shame if they do just disappear.

    Puma replacement..harder than you think.

It always amazes me that the`boys` go out and buy there crappy wide wheeled fiestas and polos instead of picking the puma which would blow both into the weeds standard. The puma still suffers from the`hairdressers` car image..my mates laughed there ass`s off when I said I had bought a mint...

    Puma replacement..harder than you think.

Honda integra type R chassis!..a throw back to hoda/rover partnership..lots bought up now for trackdays..like the accord type R..as you say..a lot of car for low money.

    Puma replacement..harder than you think.

read the quote..i said in the vtec zone..This is always the problem with the vtec engines as you have to be at max revs to get the performance from the engine, hence driving around at 6-8 thousands revs..obviously not good for mpg.

    Puma replacement..harder than you think.

Ep3`s steering is light and dead, expensive to tax,and will drink fuel in the vtec zone(where you have to be to get it to perform). They don't handle to well out the box as well. After owning the pumas more expensive cousin..the Integra DC2 type R,you will tire of bouncing a Vtec lump of the...

    Puma replacement..harder than you think.

Seems bizarre they never put the 1.7 in anything other than the puma..why not the fiesta?,instead of using the old nail 1.6. I assume as you say, being fetled by yahaha probally made the engine to expensive. Ford have never had a better gearshift either...probally the most positive feel of any...

    Puma replacement..harder than you think.

probally will be the swift..it really is amazing that years on, we have actually gone backwards in how a car should feel/handle. Even the new swiftsport cant match the pumas performance figures 14 years on!..ridiculous. And as mentioned, they use the swifts as ring hire cars. The only car I have...

    Puma replacement..harder than you think.

If you had to replace your puma with a more modern car, with similar performance..what would it be? I bought mine 3 years ago in almost perfect condition for £2000 with 29k on the clock. Unfortunatly.the change from the city to the country has taken its toll on the bodywork, although the engine...

    Gear Knob Cover

I thought about plasticoating the knob, which could then be peeled off after the winter...people have been covering there entire car with that stuff.

Clonking rear strut after fitting new rear suspension..

revival of old thread, but just foir refeference,it ended up being of all things, the front anti roll bar bushes. The clonking was traveling through the floorpan making it sound like it was the rear!..new bushes..noise gone.

    Drivers door window seals

mine was kinked..and window wouldn't come all the way up to the seal. Sprayed the window rubbers, and rubber seals several time with loads of silicone spray..and now the window flys up and down, seals fine and the kink has folded out by itself.

    6000CD screen cutting out?

mine has done it since I had it...radio still works, but some of the time the screen is garbled or blank

Best brake pads for 258mm discs

I also found the brakes terrible..to much force needed on the pedal to stop, even then not good. fitted yellow stuff pads..no noticeable difference. I know you said you didn't want to change brakes, but its cheaper than fitting disks, expernsive fluid and premium pads. If you source a set of st150...

    Word of warning

Just a little word of caution regarding cars of a certain age. Had my puma MOT`d on Thursday..sailed through with no advisories. Saturday morning, got a call from the missus, telling me her brakes have failed, and the pedals on the floor! Turns out,a rear solid brake line has pin holed, and has...
