Well, I headed over very briefly and took some photos - great display guys! - but I didn't have time to stay and chat as I was working. My Puma was hidden in the guest car park at the railings next to Wellington Straight, and in fairness it is not exactly in show condition lol :lol: But...

I'll be along, I'll head over to take a look at everyone's cars at some point in the day...

She's alive! And it seems this was the important bit: Yes it would. Replaced the plugs (they were quite badly damaged) in the pissing rain this evening, and it still didn't fire up. In fact, if anything it was worse - didn't sound close to firing. But what had I forgotten? Electrode gaps...

I got a K&N replacement panel filter and, while I may have needed a new filter anyway, I noticed an immediate improvement in throttle response and a nice little growl without being too intrusive. I recommend it. Got it off eBay for about £35 iirc.

Yeah, I gave it a good prod. I'll try the ht lead thing tomorrow when I've another pair of hands.

Just checked the fuel cutoff switch, it was fine. Would've been great if it was something as simple as that! Got a mate coming round tomorrow morning to help out. Gutted. :(

Done ecu reset, ht leads are all correct, cleaned plugs, cleaned connections at both ends of ht leads, car still not starting. :'( The plastic bits of the plugs are quite badly damaged, but that wouldn't make any difference would it?

MAF's all connected up. It turns over fine just won't fire up. It did fire up once but chugged at a couple of hundred rpm for a few seconds then died. It's not fired up at all since. Petrol's full.

Yeah, I connected it up. I also cleaned the MAF sensor at the same time with some carb cleaner, was very careful with it though so don't see how that would make a difference.

I was just swapping to a new coil pack and fitting Magnecor leads, and now my Puma won't start. :? I swapped everything back to the old coil pack and leads and tried again and it's exactly the same, won't start. The leads are all in the correct order, coil pack's the right way round, etc...

Yup, it does indeed. I can only seem to find 1.4 coil packs online, and virtually all of those are salvage. Sorting out that misfire might be more difficult than I thought... :?

Whoa... that was quick, cheers. But dammit dammit dammit, I've obviously bought the wrong one. I've a 1997 Puma, and this must be for a 2000- one. Time for a swap/refund argument I reckon... :-(
