Still hot but I believe it to be stat related as engine cools with heater on. What sort of a job is changing it as I cant even get my hand in there?

The fan appears to be working properly the heater blows hot when set on hot and switched on have water going through radiator ,need to check whether thermostat opening

HELP! Wifey cooked the little car last week now over heats in about 1 mile Engine cools down if heater switched on suspect head or head gasket, toyed with removing the stat but when released the header tank all the water leapt out, pipes very solid when engine running any ideas???
