Hi all,

Decision made to sell my Puma. It's currently on ebay,

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1998-FORD-PUMA-1-7-16V-BLACK-/190655364853?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item2c63f1fef5" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Full years MOT and some tax left.

Text from the advert is below. I'd end the auction early for anyone on here.
Looking for offers around £850.

The car is located in Leeds.

Here is my Puma which I have owned for approximately a year now. It has been a great car used for commuting everyday as well as the odd trip around the country to visit family and friends. It has always been reliable without ever giving me any problems. I have now decided to sell it though as I have decided to go back to having a motorbike as my only transport which means the car has to go! If I could afford to keep this and run 2 vehicles I'd have no hesitation in doing so!

The car is great as standard but the previous owner to me made a few changes which in my mind make it even better. These include the following;

1. Fully polybushed suspension. These were fitted when the original rubber bushes wore out. All bushes have been replaced except the ARB bushes, though I have checked these and they are in good condition. The polybushes take a car that handles well to start with and makes things even better. The car handles extremely well with masses of feedback. The polybushes also last much longer than standard bushes so shouldn't ever need replaced.

2. Cat back stainless steel exhaust. I am unsure of themake but believe it is a Mongoose system. This gives an exhaust note that is slightly louder than standard and much more in keeping with the car. It certainly isn't too loud though, it's no boy racer exhaust! It also has the advantage that as it's stainless steel it shouldnt need replaced for the lifetime of the car!

3. LED sidelights. These give the car a slightly more distinctive look and make the car more visible on those dark mornings.

4. HID headlight upgrade. The dipped beam has been upgraded with an aftermarket HID kit. The dipped beam on the Puma is well reknowned for being poor, this upgrade means that the lights are now fantastic.

As well as the above there are of course the usual good and bad points to mention.

Good Points

Just MOT'd. This was done just before the old one expired so the MOT runsuntil 29/03/2013. Over a year of trouble free motoring!

Partial service history. This includes some stamped service book history. The major point being a cambelt change at Tremona (respected Puma specialist) at approximately 68,000 miles. This included all auxiliary belt tensioners as well.

New lambda sensor - June 2011. This was an official Bosch part at approx. £80

New rear drums, shoes and wheel bearings - August 2011. These were all official Bosch parts.

New Bosch high capacity battery - January 2012.

New remote central locking fob - January 2012.

Serviced Febuary 2012 - This included spark plugs, air filter, oil filter and oil. These were all official Ford motorcraft parts.

The car benefits from electric windows, air conditioning, heated front windscreen, electrically hieght adjustable drivers seat and remote central locking with Ford immobiliser.

Sony CD player. This is only 2 months old. It is a great unit that is capable of playing MP3/WMA cd's and also has an auxiliary input on the front.

Bad Points

Unfortunately the car does have some bad points, as can be expected of a car at this age.

There are a few scratches and marks around the body. These are all just light cosmetic marks really and no doubt could be cleaned up with a bit of effort.

As is usual for an older Ford, and especially for Puma's, there is some rust bubbling on the rear arches. Comparedto some Puma's this is not too bad and is nowhere near the stage where it requires any immediate attention.

Drivers side wing mirror housing has a crack in the housing. This isn't too noticeable and has not bothered me in the year that I have owned it.

There were 3 advisories on the MOT, these being for the 2 rear top mounts having a small amount of play and the nearside steering rod end bearing having a slight amount of play. These aren't major items but may not doing in the next 6months or so.

Overall the car is in good mechanical condition with just a few cosmetic blemishes that let it down. I've really enjoyed owning this car, it's great to drive and puts a smile on my face every time I manage to leave the commute behind and find a twisty road instead. I've absolutely no doubt that it has a good few years left in it with no major problems. Given it's mechanical condition it could also be a good base for a trackday car for those that choose to.

Payment to be cash on collection. I will accept cheques but would require that the cheque was cleared before the car was collected.

Viewings are welcome either after 6pm during the week or any time next weekend. Test drives are also welcome though I would ask that you have proof of insurance and the buy it now price in cash. Apologies if this seems harsh but I would rather not take the risk. If you can't arrange this I'm more than happy to take people out for a spin with me driving.

Any questions please e-mail or I can be contacted on 07725 746698, after 6pm weekdays or anytime at the weekend.

Thanks, Ben

Unfortunately the car didn't sell on Ebay, I was perhaps being a little unrealistic on the price.

For anyone on here I'm going to say £650, though I'm open to offers.

It's got a full years MOT on it and is pretty sound other than a couple of niggles pointed out above. Need this gone so I can get a motorbike for summer!

Cheers,
Ben
