Made the mistake of taking the inner rear arch liners off, they are a bit pants in my opinion as they seem to just soak up the water and let it sit. Anyway it was predictably rusty behind there, I went to clear away the worst of it with grinder/brush attachment and it's obliterated a lot of the metal.
Clearly I'm going to need a patch welding over both rear inner arches. Luckily it's quite flat so relatively easy, with the exception of being near petrol tank and filler pipes on LH side.
Question is, can I expect an MoT fail seeing as the liners (when I refit them) will obscure the worst?
Just to stop things getting worse I've treated it with that rust converter stuff and now going over with a few coats of zinc primer.
