Rear Disc Conversion Questions

Thanks Wild E. Personally I would call that part the rear spindle or stub axle but someone else may call it differently.

I managed to find the part numbers (see below) after googling Ford eCat (Thanks Wild E for mentioning eCat). I used this website to get the part numbers for comparison. It looks genuine and part numbers seem to match up with an online search but if someone would like to double check that would be most appreciated.

Part No. in (xxxxxxx) are alternative part numbers given. For example in the instance of the calipers they are either painted red or not.

As we can see the two cars use different hubs and calipers but the same spindles, discs and pads etc. I would take a guess that one hub is longer than the other and so the calipers are different to compensate allowing the same discs and pads to be reused across models. That’s just a theory though so don’t hold me to that.

When it comes to rear brake hoses there are two types. The original ones the FRP were just straight braided hoses that bend and flex, however, in some situations they rubbed and caused brake fluid loss.

The rear pipes were redesigned with a hard section in, and the look like this:



It’s personal choice which version you use, but I know many people like Barry who have used the original style with no problems at all.

Ha, ha, thanks. That was taken at the end of a very long very expensive, very stressful restoration!!

Just to resurrect this. Does anyone know the distance from the centre of the abs sensor hole to the centre of the axle on an FRP spindle?

No you have to use the puma ones as the fiesta ones are not interchangeable with the way the puma senses when the wheel is locked
