Great experience in a public parking lot today when someone backed into the spot next to me and took my wing mirror off with it.
Waited for a while when I got back, but gave up after 30 minutes and I do not have enough proof that it was them.
Off to find a spare part I went…

Got a scrapper with a wing mirror that came off a 1.7, whilst mine is a 1.4, so my question is: are the wing mirrors universal for all coupés?
From the information I can find, it is, but I wanted to check here, just to be sure.

I’ll never find a colour match (thistle), so I’ll settle for one that’s in one piece and wrap both mirrors or something.
Sad day.

99.999999999% sure they're all the same. You can even put on electric mirrors if you have manual ones as long as you have the control panel for them too as I believe all cars have the same loom :eek:k:

Don't quote me on that last part as I just searched it and IanG said it was so  (the site spare specialist)

I know that isn't the case on my new Ka as I have to swap the door loom if I want my new mirror to work with the replacement door I bought damnit

Many thanks!
Got electrical ones and I believe the scrapped is the same.
Did some more digging and am also contemplating getting two generic Fiesta mk4 mirrors.
Will update when I’m done.

**edit**
Just found a paint manufacturer that still sells “thistle”… might end up happy days after all!

Just beware the the Fiesta mirrors do have a different mounting plate.

I also believe the Puma ones were all interchangeable

Thanks for the heads-up, red. Will keep that in mind.
Might end up being too fiddly to make them match.

Think I’ll be getting the scrap part and do a paint job, probably on both mirrors to keep them similar shades.
Replacing the unit seems to be fairly straight forward.

You can use the FIesta mirror as far as I've always read (or even Escort I think!), it just takes more time swapping over the base plates.

I’ve actually been able to go for the super budget option: re-attached the mirror.
The wiring was still attached, so I did a thorough check and it seemed completely intact and still functional (mirror still turning when moving the joystick). Some snapped off bits of plastic on the interior, but there seems enough left for it to hold on properly.
Had to evict a spider, though.

It will eventually need replacing, but I’m keeping it for now.
Saving up to have some plate work done on the rear arches and she needs some paint work done, so anything I can avoid spending money on while remaining safe is preferable.

Thanks for all the help and advice!
