Sorry if this is in the incorrect place, please move if needs be...

I have searched for the relevant info, but not found anything that is current...when I unlock the car using the keys...(another issue I'll be asking about in a separate thread) when I open the door, there is a tick toc noise, it doesn't stop until I start the engine and move off...any ideas??

The red led light on the clock sometimes stays on?...

Firstly, I'm glad you can get in the car with the key. Using the central locking kind of makes the locks redundant so they end up seizing up!

The red light on the clock is the indicator for the immobiliser. You may have an issue with it or maybe the transponder in the key.

Regarding the post above.... I'm pretty sure that if you get in the car and the alarm goes off, you can still start the engine and drive the car as normal. I could do that in my old one when I had alarm/locking issues. The only thing would be is the horn would be going off and the hazard lights would be flashing.

Hmmmm, I kinda remember my escort back in the day doing this actually...in the puma, the hazard lights don't flash when the 'alarm' going off...or in this case ticking..is there anyway to actually disconnect the alarm...so I can put in on that actually works lol...also...if I have an issue with the immobiliser...surely the car wouldn't start at all...sorry for sounding thick...new to this

The immobiliser is part of the ECU, none of which I'm overly knowledgeable about.....

On my old '98 Puma, I added a beeper which would go off when the deadlock was set. On the deadlock, the hazard lights are 'flashed' by a separate relay, so if something has been disconnected from that, the relay may be operating, but not making the hazards flash.
The relay for the hazard lights for the deadlock/alarm system is mounted on the back of the fuse board, lower right side of the steering wheel. Maybe you could pull the fuse box cover off and see if you can hear the clicking from there....
The normal hazard light circuit is separate to the deadlock system.

There should be a horn situated behind the rear panel, drivers side. May be worth looking behind there to see if it's been disconnected.....

Just posted on your other thread regarding the central locking.... May be worth checking the GEM module with regards to this problem too....
