Hi guys,

Ive done a couple of little mods to my puma black, and wondered what everyone's first mods were?

Did you start small? Or go all out?

Cheap mods or splash the cash?

It would be interessting to see what everyone does similarly? Plus get some ideas for the cheap mods!!

Wel.. the first mod, on my first puma was 17"s then lowerimg....

But my second one was full on, althoug I didn't do it all at once,I wen't for a ful frp conversion :) you can read the ful specs in my Project tread, in my signature :)

First mods were either smoked side repeaters or gel badges, think I got some flat blade wipers around the same time. Most New puma owners start small, experienced owners or those with a good mechanical / electrician mind tend to jump in and make something cool/different

On my first Puma:
Smoked side repeaters
Sportex 'never hear your radio again' back box
Hoffman race tube/center section
Boot spoiler
ST170/Mondeo brake upgrade
16" wheels as originals didn't fit over the brakes
17" wheels as I got bored of the 16s
Forced cold air induction filter/kit
Poly rear beam bushes
30mm rear beam spacers
White LED dash/switches
Internal boot release
Deadlock beeper
HID headlights
Longlife duplex stainless cat back exhaust
Bonnet scoop
Body kit
Full LED rear lights

Not necessarily in that exact order, but near enough.
That Puma got scrapped, so pulled a load of the 'modded' parts off to put on my current Puma:

Performance/cone filter
Smoked side repeaters
White LED dash/switches
Internal boot release
Deadlock beeper
HID headlights
16" wheels
20mm rear beam spacers
Automatic headlights
Day running lights
Front upper strut brace
Front lower strut brace
Poly rear beam bushes
Poly wishbone bushes front and rear
Poly ARB bushes
Poly torque link bushes
AP coilovers
LED bulbs for indicators, brake/tail lights, rear number plate lights
Battery moved in to the boot ready for turbo charger conversion

My first mods were cone air filter and suspension to my totally standard Puma .... 8 years later and i'm still modifying the same Puma

HI,
It really has got to 17"alloys and minus 30mm Ebach springs and possibly spacers (axle and wheels)
to bring the rims to the outer edge of the wings.

Best of luck what ever you decide.
Regards,
Richard.

Dug out my old spreadsheet to find out what I did first....

New reverse sensor was first but not a mod so doesn't count.

Then new headlight bulbs as we all know the originals are poor. Not sure if that's a mod either but it did improve them.

16" alloy wheels then?...yup, definately a mod and unique ones too as I'd never seen them before or since. Still have no idea what type they were or car they were originally made for

After that I renewed pretty much all of the running gear and god knows what else. ;)

Ap coilovers
polybushed
leather interior
black heater control panel
graphite dash surround
polished gear knob
FRP air box modification
new head unit, speakers & amp
k&N panel filter
Blacked out rear lights
front splitter
gel badges
20mm rear axle spacers
project puma stickers
17" wheels

car came with -
Full Miltek exhaust with sports cat (currently de cat)
blue led dash lights
tinted side and rear windows

Plans for the next couple of months
300mm front brake conversion
hyper blaster coil pack
leads
denso plugs
15mm hubcentric spacers front
Think thats just about it for now lol

Went straight at mine.

Bilstein shocks
280mm brake conversion and discs on the rear
Sump guard and tank guard
Safety Devices roll cage
Wiring for spotlights
Poly bushed the rear beam
Poly bush and FRP bush the front arms
FRP engine conversion (cambelt done at the same time)
Converted the gearbox to FRP spec ratios and fitted a ATB LSD at the same time
OMP bucket seats
3" harnesses
Sportex exhaust system
Nightbreaker plus bulbs
Helix paddle clutch
Deep dish suede steering wheel
12mm spacers on rear
Hubcentric spacers on the front
Ronal 15" alloys (3 sets). One set with r888's x6, one set with r1r's x6 and one set with gravel tyres.

All I've done is some decent brake pads and some uprated headlight bulbs. The rest I like as it left the factory.Done a couple of track days and some long trips in Europe. They are so well balanced that you can finish up spoiling them.

Decent tyres so you grip the road and can throw it about with confidence.

Can do all the other mods you like but if you go into a tree because you haven't got grip, they're all a bit pointless.
