I only have one keyfob.

Can I change the battery without any repurcussions?

I'm a bit stressed that as soon as I take the battery out the key will no longer work once the new battery goes in.

STRESS IS BAD FOR ME!

You can change the battery easily. Battery type CR 2032

Pull the keyfob apart, you may need to persuade the seperation with a small screwdriver. Buttons part opens up to reveal the battery, replace it. Ensuring the battery polarity is correct, (+ sign upwards) push them all back together. Test the result.

You get a minute or two to do this before you have to reprogramme I think.

I did the Focus one recently it worked a treat.

Neat, a few seconds should be enough, unless you drop the battery down a grating or something!

*Top tip*

Just do it on a table and not over a drain...

I did mine in the car and tested the operation of the transponder while I had the key seperated.

With the assembled buttons part outside the car and the blade part of the key in the car, turning the key in the ignition wouldn't start the engine. As soon as I brought the buttons back into the car, the car started.
