I finally got round to pulling off the parts I wanted to keep from my Thunder and arranged for it to be scrapped....

Our biology is very old as well but I hope that isn't getting scrapped anytime soon

i wouldnt say old tech in my eyes. my 1997 mondeo had almost as much as the new mondeo in spec the main difference is more things are electric. the same with the puma i would say as long as you keep in top of the upkeep its far better than alot of the newer cars on the market and would last alot longer than them

Yes and when your rain sensing windscreen wipers or any number of modern functions fail it won,t cost an arm and a leg to sort them...
Signed
Old and cynical

Its a shame to see a Thunder especially in my favourite colour being scrapped :-(

As a semi-kleptomaniac it pains me to see special things going to waste, i.e. a grey Thunder because it was unique to that car.

But without sacrifice there can be no victory and all that what what.

This was a great colour but unfortunately this old Thunder was well beyond economical repair.

The sills had blown out with rust both sides front to back and the floor had rotted through along both sills front to back, to the extent that it left holes big enough for me to see the road below.
When I was stripping off the parts I wanted to keep the jack almost went through the bottom of the car. I even found all the metalwork behind the rear bumper had blown out with rust too.

In the end it was dangerous to drive and didn't want to be driving it with my kids sitting in the back.

Very sad Tony
If I wasn't so cynical I would say in 5 years time that Ford would copy Fiat and BMW and bring out a retro MK1 Escort and a new Puma so we could all buy one, but we all know that's not going to happen :-(

According to Ford's chief designer the Puma is the car he'd most like to bring back, and that there's a pretty good chance there'll be a new Capri, depending on Mustang's popularity.

So that's something isn't it.

Let's hope so but I can't see it happening as Ford are into cars that suit the whole world and the Puma and Escort don't suit America.
