Hi,
My ABS light is on constantly and the brake used to self test but does not now.
I have used a modified ELM 27 tester and it shows no ABS faults recorded.
It does show lean mixture and cooling faults but nothing ABS related.
Has anyone any ideas please.

Unplug the rear loom on the rear beam and see if that gives you a code, may be a communication issue with the car rather than a failure to store the report.

I'm not sure all fault readers show ABS faults?

I'd start by testing all four sensors with a multimeter.

If you have a laptop , this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ELM327-OBDII-OBD2-CAN-BUS-USB-Auto-Diagnostic-Code-Scanner-Reader-Tool-V1-5-/390665722455?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item5af57dda57 and download fORSCAN for free off the internet the diagnostics on this WILL check all your ABS sensors and do an auto check on your ABS unit resolving any issues you may have.

Hi, this is the reader I have except it is a modified one with a switch
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/181457166623?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

and it shows abs with no faults.

Somewhere on Forscan there's an ABS unit self test, try running that and if that doesn't work or Ian G's suggestion doesn't work there's something wrong with your connection or plug in.

Thanks Barry, that's brilliant.
Found the test and on running it has confirmed a front right sensor problem.
Didn't know the test was there.

I'll get my hands dirty now and investigate.

Thanks everyone for your help.

Hi, quick update.
Sent for a new sensor Ebay £10, hacked the old one out, new one pushed in and hey presto out went the light.

Just the MOT to worry about now on Wednesday.
