I don't know the answer as to whether it would be ok, but if it was me I'd probably not try it.
I suppose if you can compare the specifications of it to that of the 1.7 Puma item and they're close enough it might be ok.

According to the part number, no good.

Hello,
Thanks for the replies, and yes the pump has a different earth wire position compared to the original. Thankfully my mechanic kept the old pump and can see the sticker on the top with the code: ys6udd. I'll make sure a new pump has this on top. Cheers.

YS6U-9H307-DD is the full part number, Feb 2000 build onwards. I've got some on the shelf at £35 delivered if you don't get fixed up locally.
