That promotion is very similar to a cinema advert back in the '60s for the Mk3 Ford Zodiac. The theme for that being the first 100 mph Ford .Was filmed on dusty desert road slightly blurred as if the camera was struggling to keep up with the distant car.

Yep, just you :) - https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=car+ad+desert&rls=org.mozilla:en-GB:unofficial&gbv=1&prmd=ivns&source=lnms&tbm=vid&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwj4kvn2qPzRAhWoCcAKHcIxBgIQ_AUIBg

Car industry has struggled for years on how to do car ads that give all round views of the car at speed and invariably come back to the desert again. The other two locations they like are alpine roads and seashores, but both have hefty logistical problems.

Best car ad of all time? -

The guy's faces at the end is a classic and the subliminal message of 'Just go buy the real thing' is actually pretty clever.

[post]360241[/post] The irony is most surviving 206s are that battered they resemble the one in the advert lol.
Well, maybe so. Anyway, I'm grateful to Mr Oilburner for posting the Puma vid as it's nice to have a 'historical' record of this stuff. Oddly, in 2017, I thought the ad looked more dated than the actual car does today.

Watching that made me miss my old Puma even more than I already did Frank, it'll always have a special place in my heart that car.

Liked that video - thanks for posting haven't seen that before.

Interesting that it has "Ford/National Motor museum Beaulieu" credited, maybe this is in their archive? Perhaps one day they will have an actual Puma/FRP in there. I went a couple of years ago and they had a Citroen 2cv in amongst all the usual more conventional classic stuff

I know at one time a guy called Stephen J Vokins used to be point of contact for Ford Advert History. He now works Beaulieu so assume that is why. I have the VHS full length video for this that was used in cinemas. It's about 7 minutes long but is pretty much an extension of what you see here. Think the promo was done in Spain but not sure. It's a Dynamic ad and definitely a 90s feel. Shows the attributes of the technology but not so much of the style for me and not it's best colour for TV anyway.
