Only a guess but probably one of your front ABS sensors will have failed (crushed by the front knuckle rusting) You can do a quick check by unplugging them (in the front wheel arch) and putting an ohm meter across the pins. I can't remember the correct figure but I think it should read between 1000 and 1300 ohms if the sensor is ok.
