Hi all. Did the Thunder edition Puma 2001-02 have different engine selection. Been told it only had the 1.7 Zetec engine fitted.
Is this right . Or was there engine options.
Thanks in advance. Colin.

There were a handful at the end of production with 1.6’s

As above, it wasn't an option as such.

Also off the back of this there are a number of Pumas advertised as Thunders when they have none of the additional features.

2001-10-05 to 2001-12-11 Magnum Grey Zetec 1.7 EFI 983
2001-10-31 to 2001-12-10 Moondust Silver Zetec 1.7 EFI 989
2001-12-10 to 2001-12-11 Moondust Silver 1.6L Zetec-S / Duratec EFI (100PS) 11
2001-12-10 to 2001-12-11 Magnum Grey 1.6L Zetec-S / Duratec EFI (100PS) 17

28 cars with 1.6 engine built in the last two days of production. General consensus is that they ran out of 1.7s. There were still "normal" cars being produced as well which one would assume were customer orders. Whereas the Thunders were a batch of 2000 and might not necessarily have had owners. Hence the spec could be changed to accommodate the stock levels.

Well. I never. I bought my thunder last week . I questioned when I bought the car as it had the 1.6 engine.
It has 1.6 thunder on the log book and the original buyers handbook.
How can I find out how many 1.6 mercury grey thunders are left ?
Would it be worth more ? Any advice much appreciated.

Gov.uk Vehicle Enquiry to see which have tax and test.

I've got the list of VIN and reg numbers but any that have had reg transfers will no longer be valid, needs also a reg lookup on VIN to see the current plate and get the history off that.

I would guess it won't be many.

Rough figures for Qtr 4 2016, not by colour:

https://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/vehicle/ford_puma_thunder#!tax

28 built and and 14 taxed so on that basis 8 or 9 are Magnums.

Assuming of course people don't favour saving grey ones which they obviously do as they're obvious better ;) ;)

(which is why I own 5)
