Hi we have purchased a Puma and are currently preparing this to enter this years Real Rally 2018 a fantastic event raising money for the Autoraise charity and the Ethan Rees memorial fund. I wanted to share the progress on this site and hopefully get some ideas and inspiration. We have spent £400 pounds buying the car and have £600 to get it Rally ready.
The first picture is of the Puma we purchased it has 96000 miles on the clock but is in good condition apart from the usual Puma issues .

We have designed and fabricated a new front bumper for the Rally Puma. The top half is the original bumper and we have plastic welded a Audi a4 bumper to the lower this has been filled and checked for fitment , we have also fitted a splitter to finish off, finally its primed ready for paint

Wow love the front bumper, if you need a donor car there is a good black Puma in Kent going for scrap money, I would have it myself but nowhere to keep it :-(

Cheers for the reply , I think we have most parts needed , We did order a N/S/R lamp of ebay however this has come damaged. We are looking for some wheel spacers as we have located some Fiesta ST alloys which we are having refurbed which will look really cool

I’ve got a lamp for the nsr if you need one? Not sure if it’s the one the previous owner started to modify (no orange mod) as they removed the lens from one of them, I can have a look tomorrow for you as it’s my day off?

I will let you know, gonna be poking round my car and collection of parts for most of my day off I think!

I had a look and the NS unit is the one they started to convert, from what I can tell they’ve just removed the plastic lens (badly) and I think they’re just bulb holders that go into the holes on the back of the lamp unit which I also have, I’ll check the one on my car and see what’s different/missing

Gemini Rally Puma bumper is painted just have to paint the splitter and fit it along with some mesh grilles . The rest of the Body work will hopefully be primed over the weekend. Mc Bandy the lower section we have fitted to the top Puma section is of a 64 reg Audi A4

Wow that’s gorgeous even without the splitter, shame, gonna cost a pretty penny to try and get hold of one as it’s not that old!

Can’t wait to see the finished car now, where are you guys based?

Hi we are based in Cannock , We have a splitter and side skirts for the Puma these have been test fitted and now removed and we are in the stages of priming these, Over the weekend we have primed the body doors and tailgate ready for preparation for paint

Unless you really are part of The Borg, I'm sure your colleagues wouldn't mind you using the word 'I' in your forum posts here, er, like everyone else. :)

Hi Frank not sure what the Borg is :p It would be easier to use I but there is about 8 of us involved in the project, Hope you like the Puma, In the final stages of the bumper assemble today so just looking for a grille section for the front bumper today, did have one of a Focus ST but not the best fit , Front lower splitter and side skirts will be painted today and hopefully will get an image of the completed bumper on just deciding if we should put DRL in the mesh grilles

Ah, the Borg. Nice Star Trek Voyager reference there, you will be assimilated :p Yes I know, I’ll go get my coat and hand in my PP pass on the way out......

As for the car, it looks amazing, nice to see one having some proper attention and creative thinking rather than the usual crashed into Halfords approach. Fine work!

The Puma bumper is now complete all painting and reassembly finished. Here is a couple of images of the Rally Puma bumper. The 17" ST wheels have been refurbished and are due back tomorrow just trying to locate some wheel spacers so they fit and perform correctly. The rest of the body will be painted soon

Can’t wait to see the bumper on the car!

We’re you aware of the modification (when I say modification, more pick up big hammer) Tickford did when making the FRP to allow for 17” wheels?

There is a spot welded flange on the main front chassis leg above the wheel. This needs flattening over with whatever tool you desire. Tickford chose a lump hammer :p
