Hey,

I was told that ordinary Puma/Mk5 Fiesta coilovers dont fit a FRP,
Is that true?

Can they be fitted? I was told the bit that holds the bottom of the shock is bigger on the hub,
Just a case of getting some rings/spacers made up?

Cheers,
Harry,

Yes, you are correctly informed, the rears fit, but the fronts need an adaptor fitting as the FRP hubs are 4mm bigger then standard puma/fiesta. Here are mine

Ive been told that it wont make the handling any better if you fit the coilovers, as the originals are so well set up, but i changed mine for 2 reasons, firstly because the originals were perished, and i couldnt see them lasting much longer. Secondly, i dont like how high up the FRP sits, the gap above the arches is a little big for me, so i wanted to make that smaller. I didnt want to fit bigger wheels because it would increase stress on the engine and gearbox, and effect my acceleration.

But yes, it can be done, and has been done!

I would like to add that even though the FRP looks like you can lower it a fair bit, you cant. Unless you go for a lower profile tyre or smaller wheels, the wheels rub on the airbox on the passenger side, and if you corner it too hard, it rubs on the chassis legs above the wheels. Now i see why not many people do this, it really is difficult to get it set up much better then ford/tickford did, unless you want to start cutting away at the bottom of the chassis legs.
