Oil in intake manifold / intake valves

Post by Cmanby » Sun Jul 01, 2018 2:24 pm

Hi everyone I have just bought a second hand puma vct 1.7 engine second hand. I'm in the process of stripping engine down to see if it's any good. I'm a novice at this but thought I would enjoy the challenge!!..

I have removed the intake manifold and noticed oil in intake valves and also inside manifold is a very dark oil colour baked on to the metal.

1. Is the baked on black stain just oil breather pipe wear and tear

2. Actual oil in inlet valves main causes.

Cheers guys Chris

It is the oil breather valve stuck open. The inlet valve stem seals might be leaking a bit, given the age of the engine, but almost 100% it is the oil breather
