Got a 2000 Millenium Puma, driving down the motorway and it suddenly jumped from doing 60mph (which was correct) to 0 and has been stuck at 0 all the 150miles back home yesterday!

All the other clusters are working!

Any ideas?

(I've seen "Red's" post in his FRP with exactly the same fault and he just seems to give it a gentle 'tap' and then the dial worked again!)

Hmm after reading this post i doubt it would be a stuck needle..

Maybe the part that drives the need behind the clock has come lose?

I've not had it out to see how it works behind there though.

Just been to a repair garage and they've done an error code test:
P0500 Description: Vehicle Speed Sensor A

I've been pointed to the wire/plug that goes into gear box and been advised to track the wire back up towards the loom where there's supposed to be another socket connection and check for good contact.

Otherwise I've gotta somehow pull the current speedo sender out of the gear box and replace with OEM Ford part.

Anyone know the part number and/or have more instructions?
Anyone had this problem on an electronic speedo before?
