Hi.

I'm Steve, Manchester based, just bought a Moondust Thunder.

Usual Thunder spec:
Leather,
AC,
Heated screen,
Rusty arches...

Total impulse buy, but that's what happens when looking on Autotrader while having a crap.

Was looking for a stablemate for my Capri (hence the username) which I hope to now start restoring after it sitting for 10 years feeling sorry for itself, while I've been playing with Volvo T5s.

Currently have 10 Volvos on the fleet (Don't ask. I'm ill) ranging from poverty spec 100bhp all the way up to a fire breathing 300-odd T5, but having a major clear out at the moment.

So, back to the Puma.
Only had it for 10 hours and already done nearly 300 miles in it, just bobbing around. Love it!

Plans?
After doing a bit of digging on here, here's the list I've got so far:
Sort the arches,
Gentle hit with the lowering stick,
Mondeo Si/Escort GTi 5-spokes, hopefully the 7j set. Rare though I think.
Decent tyres, always liked Toyo Proxes. Think they'd work well.
FRP style exhaust/manifold if the budget stretches.
ST170/mondeo front brake conversion.
Mondeo throttle body.
Remove the torque limiter.

Then just generally have a laugh in it.
May get it on a track, but time will tell.

Everyone loves pics:

Cheers,

Steve

Welcome to the site, after the story, I'm still confused how you ended up with a Puma when you have a fleet of Volvos and a Capri

Nevertheless welcome again and good luck with your plans!

Cheers for the welcomes :)

I'm in Northern Moor, almost Wythenshawe. Lol
The car's on my mate's drive in Carrington though until I can make some room/sneak it past the missus.

As for how I ended up with a Puma - it goes a little like this...
All the best ideas start with having a dump.
I'm downsizing the Volvo fleet to three - the work bus (850 TDi) the missus' car (C70 ragtop) and the 1/4 mile beast (300-odd bhp T5)
I'm gonna be mainly focusing on rebuilding my Capri from the ground up and wanted something to fiddle with when I need a break from that.
As the Volvo is pretty much finished and has proven itself to be absolutely bombproof, I wanted something else as a little toy, ideally a Ford to keep the Capri company.
I was looking at 24v Probes, but nice ones are few and far between, plus there's not very much available for them on this side of the Atlantic.

So, this brings me to idly flicking through Auto trader while having a crap.

Stumbled across a Puma for sale for reasonable money a few miles up the road, rang the bloke while still sat on the porcelain express, went and had a look, bid him in the balls, I now own a Puma.

Drove about for a bit, called in a petrol station and they had emoji shaped cuddly toys for sale, I bought one shaped like the s**t.

Project S**tbox was born:

Everyone caught up now?!

[post]354244[/post] Hi Steve
What Capri you got?
Barry

A very poorly 2.8 Special

No, it's not a Brooklands, wish it was.
Was resprayed before I bought it, by Stevie Wonder, in the dark.
Special lightweight rusty racing shell.

Still, rust is lighter than carbon fibre.

Hi Steve
Still collectible if you lose the wheels and the spoiler and it should have an LSD I guess for "drift mode"
Barry

lol love the story of how you got the Puma. That Capri looks like a good project.

Puma to do list looks good. You should have a sound little motor once that's done.

Cheers.

Yeah, the wheels are a set I had on my Orion about 12 years ago.
Incidentally, that's how I ended up buying my first Volvo... Got sick of breaking Ford gearboxes.
Back where I started now!
Got my eye on a set of 15" black/polished RS4s. Mmm....

The spoiler is a Broadspeed copy I think.

Oh, yup... LSD on board.
V6 Capris are almost undrivable with an open diff!

I'm pretty handy with the spanners, so shouldn't be too much bother.
Famous last words, huh?!

Could do with finding someone around here to give me a price to sort my arches.

Fair play, very well explained but
