Hi just bought a 2001 puma thunder 1.7 and I'm not sure if it needs a new clutch or not..... the bite is high but isnt slipping as such.... just feels like it doesn't disengage properly as the revs do not really drop when pressing the clutch pedal down.... any suggestions?

Try going on the motorway (or any long road) get it in 5th at low speed and give it some shoe.
If it's knackered it will slip, if not it should pick up speed rapidly!

Rob.

If you have a trusted garage nearby, id take it and ask them to check it out. I fear if you go to a fast fit centre they will throw one in weather it needs one or not.
Let us know how you get on

Is the clutch peddle hard, it could be the slave cylinder is sticking.

I would agree with this!!
My last puma felt the same as youve described when first brought and sure enough after 3 weeks of raggsing her about the clutch went on an up-hill while dropping the Mrs to work :bash:
