Im new to this site just thought id post the progress of Frp165.

I bought 165 in Oct From pumaspeed as many Know 165 has been written off. however has been fully rebuilt using a brandnew shell. However it had'nt been well looked after, after the drive home from leeds to norwich i could smell burning oil, Vibrations through car on acceleration, engine running rough on idle and the wheels badly curbed.

since ive owned it ive had to put a new throttle body on it, new Hego sensor, new abs sensor, icv valve, just to get it to run right, same time i gave it full service and cambelt, replaced all the oilseals on the engine while it was apart due to some oil leak issues. but with no luck in fixing the leaks, after investigating further i found headgasket leaking oil out of back of head so im in middle of fixing her now.after further investigation of cylinder head found 5 inlet valves slightly bent on heads of valves so now 8 valves to add to the shopping list

Referbished Driveshafts both-sides to fix vibrations,
and ive sent all 4 wheels off to be referbished.

So this Car is having its x-mas present early lol.

Good Job im a senior Tech at ford.. saving myself a fortune in labour bills

Just looking forward to finishing it

Looking forward to seeing some photo's!

Did you get some before you started everything?

Glad to see another projectpuma turn up :eek:k:

Sounds like you've got yourself a nice little project on you hands there!

Also good to hear that an FRP is being re-born with love, care and attention :eek:k:

If ive got the money spare at end of summer im going to treat it to a full respray..

sounds like your looking after her well, keep up the good work matey :eek:k:

Hi Chris, always good to see a puma of any description resurrected!

Wow those wheels are bling

Looking good though mate, lots of tlc and you will never want to sell it on!!

Looking good - well done on a great project.

Out of curiously though, did you know about the mechanical problems when you bought it?

If not, I'd have been seriously miffed if I bough a car (albeit a rebuild) and drove home from the garage only to find a long list of jobs that need doing just to get it running properly.

Cheers

yes i knew some of the faults where there, thats why i got it cheap. but to behonest i didnt even look over it. i saw it was cheap and put a deposit down as it was being sold through a respected puma garage.but asoon as i got it back i found all the faults but hey.. they all being fixed and il be a happy owner again lol

Wheels look fab, be awesome on the car!

White speedlines on an FRP near me (which are similar) and they look

i was thinking of white wheels on my frp, think they look sweet and alot more "rally style" look. Decided against them cause im lazy and think they will be a pain in the ass to keep clean

More of a pain in the ass to keep clean...my standard silver ones are hard work - who knows how bad white ones would look after 5 mins...not to mention stainage...good luck! ;)
