here are a few pics of my turbo conversion project, the idea was to turbo the 1.7 but i dont want the car to be off the road for ages, so i decided to collect every part i need and build a spare engine and fit it all once its totaly built and ready to go, this is exactly how i did my wide arch conversion, i had the idea to turbo it about two years ago, im not mechanicaly trained but i have used the car as a learning project, i have a good friend who has a garage and is a mechanic and he has taught me loads plus given me a space to work on my car when needs be, the turbo project started 2 years ago, over the first year i spent time researching loads of information on engine tuning and turbo charging, i spent a small fortune on books to read up on, i got loads of help from engine tuners, and people who have turbo'd the 1.7, about a year ago i sat down and spent a few days working out every part i needed, whether the be custom made or off the shelf parts, i want to build a 'as new' engine with as many genuine ford parts as possible, the finished engine should produce at least 250 bhp but be able to make near 300bhp,

second hand engine, just a note the only second hand parts i am using are the crank (which will be polished and shot peened and have a keyway added) the casting for the block and the casting for the head
