Hi Brian
Did you make some socks for yours? I was lucky because the fronts as standard had a rubber bellows system that clamped in at the location of the damper seal and just moved up and down as the damper rod moved up and down. The rears had nowhere to clamp the bellows down and no room inside the springs to use a steering rack gaiter or something similar so I thought of something like the pop bottle and was lucky it fitted perfectly.

Yeah I made them (with a little help from my mom). Mine cover the whole spring from top to bottom and therefore also protect the coilovers threads from salt, dirt and grime

Just got two of my Puma wheels back from re-furbing today and, hopefully, should get the other two back on Thursday.
When I bought the wheels off ebay in 2013 they were scratched on all four rims but I rubbed them down and painted them with some silver cellulose so they didn't look too bad until you got close to them.

The photo doesn't really show in detail all the damage.

I'm really pleased with the finished wheels especially as he hand finishes every wheel and the two rims I've got back so far look perfect.
The only thing I'm not too keen on is the colour. I didn't ask for this as he said he only had one colour but for me I could have done with more silver and less grey.

Looking at the rear of the car with the standard wheels on it looks like I have the rear dampers set at about standard ride height but once I get to drive it some more and check for scrapes I should be able to lower it.

Coming back from my little jaunt with Rob and John the other day I heard some weird sounds from the engine bay at random times sounded like a motor running. I got nearly home and my ABS and TC lights came on and stopped on so that was the sound, the ABS pump running!

My first thought was that it would be the front left sensor as that was the only one I hadn't replaced but rather than guess I plugged in the old Forscan. Bingo it came straight up with right rear sensor which really surprised me.
With a bit of time to spare today I had a look. First thing jacked up the rear to see if a wheel bearing had gone, no luck. So I dismantled the rear disc and caliper to check the sensor and ring.

Using a 0.5mm feeler gauge I checked the sensor/ring gap and it was a little tight over about 60 degrees of rotation so using a screwdriver against the disc guard I eased the sensor ring back until I could freely rotate the hub with the feeler gauge in place. By this time I was beginning to think it might have been an electrical problem but I put the brake back together, the wheel back on and had my tea.
A couple of hours later I decided to take it for a drive just in case I fixed it and.....

Result!!! Just about ready for Squires on Sunday now

Hi Barry,
I was wondering if getting a bad set (one sensor is always good) and resoldering it back instead of a bad one would work? Sort of cut and paste in real world...?

Hi Sinisa
Yeah it's always something to bear in mind and I've saved all the sensors I've taken off all the scrap cars so far because I'm sure these sensors won't be available for many more years and also at around £130 for my rears (Escort MK7 Estate) I'd definitely look at soldering one in rather than buying new again.

Hi James
I take it those were the rears. I did shop around for my rears but they are different to Puma or FRP ones hence the expensive price but thanks again James

Hi James
If it's any help the part I fitted was an intermotor 60020 easy to recognise as it looks like the Puma lead apart from the straight cable entry into the sensors. (you can fit any spacers you want on the rear axle with these)

Well not done a great deal on the Puma lately but I'd noticed that the original Motorcraft battery was starting to lose charge if left for a fortnight or so. This photo shows the voltage on the car 2 days after a full charge.

As luck had it I had kept the battery off the Thunder I'm stripping and more importantly kept it charged so this is the charge in it about 2 weeks after a full charge.

So I swapped it over into my Puma and the job's a good 'un.
Rob (Robyorks) and I went down to the Thoresby Hall all Ford show today and it was an absolute scorcher. We met up with a Puma friend again (Vas) and had a look around his prize winning FRP

Ours looked good as well but mine definitely wants detailing now.

Barry, if I see correctly, your lights are misty yellowish? If so, polish them AND GET THEM resprayed with clearcoat professionally. It is peanuts money for someone when he does a car and it will keep them nice as the clearcoat has UV inhibitors that turn plastic yellow...

Hi Sinisa
Yes my lights are horrible but I'm part way through restoring the lights off my Thunder. I had a scrap lens off the first Puma I stripped which I took off the clear coat and applied the clearcoat that I normally use but made a balls of it but I'm going to have another go till I get it right and then I will do the Thunder ones and keep my original ones for spares, Well spotted though

This is one of the Thunder lamps. The clearcoat was flaking off around the edges so it all had to come off so I started off with 400 grade and worked up my way to 2000 grade, it just wants clearcoating now.

Barry, you need to polish it first. Some polishing agent, a polisher and do it before applying clearcoat...

Just catching up again Barry and the old lass is looking really well credit to you mate.
Its good to see the Puma has finally reached some sort of classic status and I have noticed a few popping up at shows its not before time mate.

Hi Martin
Thanks for that. Funny thing I was talking about you to a mate from Pontefract today at the Cafe. He was there with a mate of his and they were both on 350LCs so I mentioned about your organisation and said to him to turn up on Thursday night. I think Andrew connected him (somehow????) with the group that John Macfarland's in.... it's a small world
How's the Fezzer anyway, still running sweet?

My Puma 1.7, more than a year on (A works in progress)
I went to the Barnsley Trust Ford Ford meet/Fiesta ST launch today. This is another meet/show that's growing every year so I went early to get a good spot.

There was already an FRP there but never saw the owner or got a photo of it but shortly afterwards John Wilby turned up in his FRP. There was also a Ford GT in the showroom looking glorious but shame about the colour.

Trouble with getting such a good spot was that it was getting nearer to lunchtime and I was well and truly hemmed in.

Fortunately a car moved out from the bottom left hand corner so I managed to get out ok.
