Hi Paul
No idea of the cost as the first one is not fully completed and IVA'd yet but they won't be cheap and if you tried to buy an old original GP4 Escort you'd be paying a lot of money as well. Have a look on their website and give them a ring tomorrow.

I went to a show at Notton today with the Puma and although I was sat with some Westfield friends most of the time the Puma got quite a bit of attention. I have noticed one thing about the people that look which is first the surprise at seeing a Puma at a classic car show, then a smile as they either had one or always wanted one and then the inevitable walk around to the rear of the car to examine the wheel arches followed by the surprise that they are not rusty.

Nice one Barry.
You're like an Ambassador for the Puma, keep on getting it out there mate
I was at Doncaster classic car and bike show yesterday with the mini, there were literally hundreds of cars, loads of Fords of all ages but not one Puma

Cheers Paul, yes most of the shows I go to are Puma-less other than mine apart from the Ford shows at Squires which usually have a few there. If you're not busy on Friday pop down to Thornes park in Wakey as there's the big early evening car show but I'll be there with the Westfield club so you'll probably hear us before you see us

She is a very good looking Puma isn't she?
Good stance, nice wheels (what are they if I may ask?) and decent paint condition with good gloss. It always looks like you have thrown a bucket of water over it and its soaking wet its that good.

Hi Paul
Thanks very much for that. I try to improve it every year if I can but it's not perfect as most of the panels require buffing but that should get done before Ford Fair. As for the wheels they are made by BSA (not British Small Arms, another company) and Peugot fitment. Another contributor on here has some but I can't remember who it is now.

Keep up the good work then. She looks great, especially when battling a colour like yours. Most cars of this age have 'gone' off a little by now and looking flat or pink ish but as I say yours looks really bright and glossy.
Not familiar with the wheel brand but they look nice and a little bit different from the usual wheels but they go really well with the car.

Thanks again Paul
The BSA wheels are an Australian brand I think which is probably why there aren't that many sets knocking about.

Last week my Westy friend Des did a bit more polishing to remove the scratches from the roof and the top of the rear wings so the car is looking a lot better now. Here it is at Ford Fair on the Project Puma stand.

We enjoyed Ford Fair as per usual and thanks to Cherie and Dal for organising but on the way down after stopping at Trowell services I had the EML come on which I guessed would be for code PO420 so I wasn't particularly worried as the car was driving as normal. On the way back home there was a massive tailback on the M1 and then it started with torrential rain which continued more or less all the way to South of Sheffield so most of the drive was done around 45 mph, thank God for my rain tyres as the motorway was awash with water. When we got half way up the motorway my son said that water was dripping onto his right foot so I guessed that would be another job for today, cleaning the heater drain and drying out the carpets. Anyway I set to taking out the passenger seat and folding back the carpet to get to the sound deadening and everything was snuff dry.

I did the same to the drivers side and that was dry as well so I took off the heater drain pipe and that was completely clear so all I can think is that the amount of rain just overwhelmed the heater drain causing it to drip out on my sons foot.
As for the EML I hooked the laptop to my car on Forscan and sure enough it was the PO420 fault code.

So I deleted the fault code and also did an idle control valve reset so everything should be good now.

No EML now

My Puma 1.7, more than a year on (A works in progress)
Just over a week or so ago I did a couple of local shows with the Puma. Normally I would have doing them both in the Westfield but as the weather is so unpredictable at the moment. The first one was the Cliffe House show at Shepley which is quite a small one then the day after I did the Locke Park show in Barnsley which is a much bigger one. Funnily enough I ended up next to the same green 4 door mk1 Escort on both days.

Then over this last weekend my Son and I went to Mathewsons at Thornton Le Dale (Bangers for cash) to possibly bid on an MG Midget but there were far too many people there and I don't think we would even manage to get into the Auction Hall. There was also listed a Ginetta G15 which was a stunning car in yellow. It was that nice that even though it was parked next to a really nice gold leaf lotus elan we both agreed that the Ginetta was a better looking car.

And yesterday I did the Brooklands re-visited show but the numbers were a bit down from the previous 2 years maybe because of the variable weather again. My friend Chris turned up in his Ultima GTR which got a lot of attention. It's a bit of a beast being powered by a tuned LS3.

Well the weather has been a bit crap this year but I still managed to take the Puma to a good few shows without cleaning it too much thanks to my Westfield friend giving it a good old buffing.

I really need to get the car garaged through the summer but before I do that I need to get some existing stickers remade as the bright sunlight on the right of my car has burnt so much off!

Well I have to admit this year I've spent quite a bit of time trying to finish an old Westfield I bought nearly 10 years ago.
I finally finished all the long term problems and then took it for a new powder coating and let the rebuild begin again in earnest!

Hi James and Sinisa
The Anglia will move to this side of the garage as soon as the Westfield is built as there is a pit there for doing all the nasty underneath welding stuff. Sinisa, the biggest tool in the garage is me in the last photo

Barry, I will just hijack your thread a bit. Seeing the engine from this angle I have a question: if you wanted to get rid of the PS pump (as in this image there is none), but wanted to keep the A/C compressor (also not here on this image) what sort of pulley would you use instead of PS pump? Or anyone has a better idea regarding the PS deletion AND keeping the A/C?

Hi Sinisa
Sorry I didn't want to get rid of anything on this engine but to just show I'd taken it out of my scrapper so the info you are after, unfortunately I can't supply. I take it this info is for the ecoboost transplant? You are a Genius mate, I would never take this on (even thougfh I am building another kitcar as we speak)
Good luck
Barry
