Hi everybody!

I’m here with my first car, and oh boy am i excited  . After some unsuccessful attempts to buy Mazda 323f bg, Mazda mx3, fiat coupe and some other small coupes i had finally luck with my Puma. Let mi introduce her to you.
Its a December 1997 1.7 cutie with 178k km on the clock. It has full equipment for that age, only thing missing is leather interior.

My Puma already had some issues when I bought it. Namely HCV stuck on no heat, ABS lights on, bad wheel bearing, failing boot struds, moisture in drivers back light, water getting in drivers footwell, drivers side and boot locks were stuck (so boot could be opened only with aftermarket remote), passenger window switch broken and lot missing or broken plastic pieces around the interior.

But it also has some slight "tuning" done. 2 rear spoilers, which I actually like , tinted back windows, POD filter, REMUS exhaust muffler, fog lights, various pieces wrapped in carbon and Sony radio.

So this is the shape in which my Puma came:

So the first thing I did was, that I successfully attempted to repair and clean my HCV. Thanks to great guides I took it apart and removed a lot of mess from it. Surprisingly, after putting it back together it worked like a charm.

Then we, with help of my friend, polished headlights to make them bit nicer ;)

In meantime I looked at the horrific aftermarket remote control installed by some dull some time ago, as you can tell it’s a mess  and it doesn’t work for locking the car, just unlocking. So I traced it down and will fix that soon :D

Other small mods include taking off steering wheel cover, lubricating power windows trails, main beam upgrade (HID conversion in future), I’ve also got original puma shift knob from scrapyard so i had polished it and installed it, detailing the interior etc..

So there is lot to come, I will install new stereo system with active subwoofer, retrim door panels to red, get some Recaro seats (probably from escort), buy new sticky tires, paint rims black (or buy new) and slight performance mods.

But right now is my mechanic changing bad wheel bearings, installing new timing belt, fixing minor oil leak from cylinder head and giving her some fresh Formula F oil :)

I can’t wait to start fully working on my new baby, wish me luck.

Welcome to the club! Some of your photos don't seem to work but it sounds like you're certainly making it your own :)

Thank you for welcoming me and noticing issues with pictures. It was due to bad google hosting, flickr is working better.

Also here I add photo of the engine bay before I started modding it. First step is to remove plastic "baguette warmer" resonator :)
