Re: Project Puma 'Black'
Think gonna use the adapter you used , I ve seen a lot of adapters you can aftermark most be something that will fit.
At first I was thinking buying a cheap wearless gamecontroll and make a custum wheel mount controll (use windows mediasenter or something similar .
But I like the oeem you fitted wanna start with that first maybe end up with two remote but then I can allwys gp back to the 6000CD player.

Re: Project Puma 'Black'
I didn't use any adaptors!
I used the remote and both plugs from the Mondeo, I didn't use ANY adaptors.
To use with a different stereo (or possibly car PC) you need adaptors.

Ahh I see once again my car is old:) my 6000CD dont seem to have the posibility to add the audio switch. I see from the drawing of the 2000 it has a lot more stuff/drawing of extra function.
I see there is one it says not in use but think that was the cd changer.

Re: Project Puma 'Black'
That is an aftermarket retrofit kit, it is easier to use the standard bits from a Focus/Mondeo.

I have been studding the ford mondeo 1998 drawing and I see they are very similar to my car the only thing that sems to be missing is C443c . Gonna add some pictures with it marked out.

Re: Project Puma 'Black'
I took out my CD player today and took a picture of the player on the back side.

The plug to the right is the C7a on the puma and C443a on the mondeo
I think the open available connector in the middle is the one I need?

Re: Project Puma 'Black'
It is only the plug in the middle that you are interested in. You will find it on high spec Mondeo and Scorpio from around 97-98.

Great:) now I know how it looks like.FlashBastd wrote:It is only the plug in the middle that you are interested in. You will find it on high spec Mondeo and Scorpio from around 97-98.
Wondring about the wire how seems to go to the VSS, you mention somthing about the VSS in your installation. This is only to compensate if you speed harder ( get higher volume?)
Where do I fit that wire?

Re: Project Puma 'Black'
The VSS only needs to be connected if you want the volume to increase with speed.

Re: Project Puma 'Black'
You shouldn't need an interface, as the later remote works in a different way to the earlier one. Hopefully it should just be a case of using the older plug to connect the two wires.

Re: Project Puma 'Black'
Thats cool one lesser problem.
So I only need the C443c from a ford mondeo 97-98
and a wheel remote controll from a 2001-2003 Mondeo.
Have sendt request for parts on 5-6 cars hope they have it.

Re: Project Puma 'Black'
I see now what you pointed out earlier about using the 2001-2002 contol. Only 2 wires and no contoll radio interface as you mention earlier. Must be using 4-20ma signal or something similar.
I got the Plug
from a guy on ebay for 10pound.
I got the Plug

Re: Project Puma 'Black'
Drove the Puma again today, really enjoyed driving it, and giving it some stick, but I remain very pleased with my decision to change. I think that the Puma is a great car, and currently great value for money, but it is best in something approaching standard form.
If you want a 200PS car, then save the cash you would spend on modifying your Puma, and buy one. If you are particularly attached to your Puma, then based upon my experience, most importantly make sure it runs properly, replace all of the wear parts with new standard parts, change the cams for FRP spec, the master cylinder and servo from an early Puma, possibly ST170 front brakes (there are incidences of the Mk3 Mondeo calipers warping discs as the ST170 discs are really a bit thin for the Mondeo calipers), and if you must change the wheels, please, please stick to something as close as possible to standard spec, and no more than 16" diameter.
4-2-1 exhaust is fine, but the noise that it makes, while fun when you are in the mood, in day-to-day use detracts from the appeal of the car as even the Milltek is just too loud, especially on the motorway.
Anyhow, the car finally got the FRP tail pipe fitted;

As I said above, I gave it some real stick, and it definately still puts a smile on my face, but the smile now is no less than it did with the full Milltek, FRP inlet, FRP ECU, etc.

Re: Project Puma 'Black'
The seller of a wheel control switch says the one he is selling has a 3 pin socket. He dont now the year of it but belive its 1999-2002. Does your have 3 pins? Cant see if it has it on the picture you added.
Dont get why there are three there are only two needed. Will it work you think?

Re: Project Puma 'Black'
What is it coming from, Focus or Mondeo? I know the Mondeo ones only have two wires.
