Hi all,

Now that the handling on the Puma is mostly sorted and I've serviced it, I'm moving attention to the interior.
All carpet and headlining is out, as are the back seats and rear cars / trim panels.
I've then bought a set of side mount Motordrive pro bucket seats, and am looking at fitting them, but it's not so straightforward due to the ridges in the floor pan where the front seats bolt down.

A few people have suggested you can buy Fiesta Mk3.5 rails and then bolt side mount brackets and the seatbelt clip onto these so you get the benefit of a slider and subframe without having to pay £120+ each side for the OMP subframe and slider.

Is this correct, and if so, anyone know a good breaker who does them for reasonable prices - I've seen a few on eBay but I'm not paying £100 for a pair of rails from a flaming Fiesta!

Cheers,

Giles

Anyone at all?
Spoke to a mate who does plenty of metal working and he reckoned the shape meant that the easiest option would be to fabricate a bespoke subframe that sits behind the bracing bar that goes across the middle of the car (the annoying ridge in the floor which means most seats sit so high), and then you could bolt runners and or side mounts to that, as the contours would be difficult to follow.

What have people on here done?

Hello mate.
OMP and Cobra do make a subframe for the puma/Fiesta.
Though they`re really for bottom mount seats and would need adapting.

The proper way to do it is by welding two spars between the sill and the center tunnel. with caplive nuts welded to them.
Trying to use original seat rails would be weak and possibly not central (to the steering wheel)

Thanks mate, thought I'd post up to say cheers, and I found a local guy who welded a bar with captive nuts welded and the bar went in between the sill and centre tunnel, and bolted direct to the floor on the other end with spacers.
Works well, and he also welded in a harness / strut bar in the rear which I've used to fix my mate's 4 point harnesses on - well happy!

I always have the thought of standard equipment always needs upgrading for performance use so I'd personally weld up my own and be done with the standard flimsy stuff
