Uploading Pictures? Maximum resolution and Mb restiction

Post by Neil » Sun May 04, 2008 4:24 pm

I'm having a few problems trying to upload yesterdays meet pictures. Once I've selected the file and hit 'submit', the page will load, then go blank and nothing happens. Am I just being a biff here?

The file needs to be a certain size or smaller before you upload them.

1600x1200 pixels and up to 4mb in disk size.

You'll need to resize them before uploading them. I can increase the limits, but it can look a bit messy on the gallery pages if they get too big.

What size are you trying to upload?

Aaaah, that's the problem - the pixel count is too high on my pics. I'll have a play and resize them :)

I can never upload images wider than 1000 pixels or rather it takes too long for me to believe the image is actually being uploaded...

Quick one - how can you upload a sig without having an 'enlarge' border round it?

Make sure it's 400 pixels or narrower otherwise it resizes it down to 400 - hence the blue dots.

I can never upload an image greater than 1000pixels in the largest dimension on this site, at least not within my limits of patience. I just give up. So I resize the image to 999pixels or smaller and it does eventually upload.

Compared to Pumapeople I DREAD uploading to the site because of the 33.6k modem-like upload speeds.

Can anything be done to improve it?

Maybe it's a Mac incompatibility or something as 1600 pixels works ok for 99% of people? I'll highlight it to Red when he's back as he controls the server.

Hopefully ProjectPuma V2 (hopefully soon) might cure a few issues.

Please remember though that this isn't a commercial site, no fees, no expensive hosting, so there will no doubt be limitations to what can be done in a charity status.

Is ProjectPuma V2 going to be like the new RPOC forum? I think both forums use the same software.

Seeing as I have no idea what the RPOC looks like, I can't comment.

It looks quite like this though, just newer and with more features.
