Thanks all for your excellent help and advice. The wiring loom has a couple of supporting votes, in particular from one RAC guy who spent ages on it, and then said that it "must" be the wiring loom. One way or another, it sounds electical. That it only seems to happen when the car gets up to...

    Final call for help

Incidentally, i stumbled across this before (referring to the Focus) which, though intriguing, doesn't really answer why the hell one "thing" receives a fuel level and another doesn't. Also, someone on here suggested it was a bad idea to use a fuel cleaner... at this point, maybe its no harm...

    Final call for help

Hi Since the last time, i've not tried anything other than driving with the petrol cap off - which did nothing. Couldn't even imagine why it seemed to help before, but it doesn't help to drive with it off! AS far as the other suggestions (which I appreciate your thought on), the error message...

    Final call for help

Hi guys (and gals?) I have a long running problem with my puma. You can read the whole unhappy tail here: http://www.projectpuma.com/viewtopic.php?t=12660" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Anyway, it basically cuts out at idle once it is warm and struggles to restart. I have taken...

    Car stalling problem continues

So, I finally had the opportunity to run it until is started getting the oil pressure light staying on when starting (eventually it goes out) and when I opened the fuel cap, a big rush of air, and then when it starts again, the oil pressure is fine. Previously this has also sorted out the...

    Car stalling problem continues

i guess i'm happy to spend a bit if it sorts out the problem, and i'd rather get it done properly (if it's needed) than do a bodge myself as that has calamity written all over it! I haven't tried running it without the cap - what will it mean if it does or doesn't run? I'll check it out...

Hi guys, any other ideas on where to go with this?

    Car stalling problem continues

ah, the RAC guy plugged his computer in, and we sat there checking through anything we thought might be related... we tapped the fuel level sensor and it read literally 0% but the gauge was reading the quarter of a tank i'd put in 10 seconds before it played up. he also brought up the EVAP...

    Car stalling problem continues

Lol, so... this continues to confound... So, any idea what might cause the fuel sensor / sensor to give a reading of zero to the ecu when at the same time the gauge reads fine? We talking a broken cable or something easier? Could the filler cap be a problem by not releasing the vacuum? As I...

    Car stalling problem continues

Awesome... What does it mean that the fuel gauge works fine? If it's the same sensor then it's not the problem, at least directly...

    Car stalling problem continues

Would the fiesta haynes have a walkthrough on this? Like a needle in a haystack on google... Is there a different sensor for the fuel gauge? Or is it specifically the sender that may not be working? Cheers

    Car stalling problem continues

Ok, fair enough. Thanks for the note Steve. Update. I took the car down the road to the local shops. Only a couple of miles at tops. When I came to start it again, after it was in the fat black lump area of the temp gauge it wouldn't start. Following prior advice from the RAC guys, I popped the...

    Car stalling problem continues

Thanks, I'll give that cleaner a go. The RAC guy's computer explanation said that it could cause the evac not to function, and if the evac isn't functioning then would that make it stop? The petrol cap always hisses when I open it... Does that fit? This error accompanied each breakdown so far...
