Hello!

So I own a stock 1.7 and would want to get some more power out of it...
For starters somewhere close to 150 bhp would be very good! :cool:

Exhaust will have to be changed anyway as it's not in good condition.

Because of some shitty finnish laws it would get rather expensive to install a turbo so that's not an option.

The first thing to do is a bit of a no brainer imo - Remap!
Unless anyone thinks different, this seem like the natural one to go for - http://pumaspeed.co.uk/product-1700cc-Remap-by-Ford-Racing_277.jsp" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Now I will get into stuff I don't know that much about...

Camshaft kit from the FRP? The camshaft kit is pretty pricey...is this a good way to go? How much power does it bring?
http://pumaspeed.co.uk/product-Puma-1700cc-FRP-Camshaft-Kit_215.jsp" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I also found this on the pumaspeed website: http://pumaspeed.co.uk/product-SUPERCHIPS-BLUEFIN-Normally-Aspirated_30.jsp" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Has anyone tried it? how much difference does it make?

Any help is welcomed!

I can't offer any advice, but another place to look would be Lightning Motorsport - they do pretty inclusive kits for the 1.7, some of which I think get over 250bhp. - EDIT! Not over 250bhp, I'm talking wubbish. See link :)

I do know that to get decent power NA you have to spend a fair bit of coinage. And, if possible, put the car on a diet.

Aleady watched that, and yes, pretty cheap for what you get! I'm still not sure I'd go for that tho! Cheapest kit is still almost 2000 € and that's without fitting! I'd rather start easy with changing exhaust and get a remap. It's not the same power but I still think it's the same kind of value (€/HP) :p

If I had a lot of money the lightning motorport would be awesome but don't feel I can make that kind of investment all in one go! :/

Unless you really want to stick with the Puma, getting a new car will save a lot of hassle and money. Puma was never made for power, but for handling.

The first things I would suggest would be weight reduction, new tires and new brakes, than possibly suspension upgrades like coilovers and new bushings. But if everything you want is more power, than new tires and weight reduction will improve acceleration, but remember you will also need be able to stop. A lot of people just skip on the brakes, but its one of those things you should do first.

Handling is already very good for the Puma, but coilovers and new bushings really help. Im also not a very fan of the tall standard height, so lowering also helps with the looks :grin:

For power, a new exhaust and FRP inlet will help a lot, together with FRP cams and a Re-map you will be very close to 150Hp.

Anyways, will be cool to see what you end up doing. Good luck!

I did by the Puma for its handling but would like to get a few more horses out of it. I haven't been thinking about going mad with it but a few hp makes such a big difference in a light car like the puma.

As the Puma is my daily I'm not gonna start with weight reduction. Already fitted lowering springs. Might bye some grippy tyres in the future for some track days/events.

You can follow the progress of the car here if you want: http://www.projectpuma.com/viewtopic.php?f=64&t=26304" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Not sure if it effects any of your decisions but I understand that Pumaspeed went into liquidation, although presumably they started trading again under a new name:
