After 3 and a half more than happy years motoring in 'Vimto', time has come to move her on  Although mechanically excellent it's the bodywork that lets her down, and we really don't want her to suffer the 'end of life runaround' treatment or worse, so we'd love for her to go to someone on the forum who'll look after her and hopefully repair her so she looks as good as she feels. We paid a fair bit of money for the sills to be properly replaced at a friend's uncle's bodyshop, who had a good reputation. Unfortunately the job wasn't as good as I was expecting and could still do with tidying up and repainting, or just redoing. We would have argued it but found out a week later he was diagnosed with advanced cancer so we let it go. Anyway, details as follows.

2002 Moondust Silver Ford Puma 1.7 Thunder

Reluctantly selling my Ford Puma Thunder due to expanding family requiring a bigger car. We have owned the car for over 3 years and 15k miles, it has never let us down and we have always spent the money when it has needed it. The car currently has 107,448 miles but is still in use so may go up a little.

Mechanically the car is perfect and you won’t find many better. It handles as it should, the engine is responsive and eager, it will take off if you put your foot down or do 40mpg if you’re careful. The gearbox is lovely on these and this is a great example with great feel and no play. Unfortunately the bodywork lets it down on the sills and the arches, but it is solid.

Interior pictures to follow.

Good Bits:
- MOT until 14th August 2016
- Full Ford Service History, last serviced at just under 100k miles
- Cambelt was replaced by previous owners in line with the service schedule, off the top of my head on 67k miles
- Clean interior, leather seats in great condition with only minor wear to driver’s bolster
- Never been smoked in
- End of production Thunder extras: leather seats, electric windows, air conditioning, heated front and rear windscreens, 6 CD in-dash changer, 15” multispoke alloy wheels
- Uniroyal Rainsport 3 tyres, full matching set and only 7000 miles old so lots of life left
- Parcel shelf fix done - hinge pins adapted so they don’t fall out, cord attachments replaced with Mk7 Fiesta items that fit much better and don’t fall off the tailgate. These are common Puma problems.
- Two keys
- Radio code written in handbook
- Since purchase we’ve replaced: front wishbones with bushes, rear strut top mounts, rear axle bushes, rear brake lines, both front ABS sensors, rear brake shoes.
- Rear brake shoes recently replaced and system adjusted to spec, with full system fluid flush. Brakes work brilliantly and handbrake locks wheels on 3 clicks
- Car had full clay bar and machine polish last year. Could do with a good detail but paint is in great condition for year.
- Dipped beam bulbs replaced with high output bulbs as originals are notoriously dim. No problems seeing in the dark now. Sidelight/numberplate bulbs changed to match colour.
- Comes with extras such as: Hoffman Race Tube I didn’t get around to fitting, rear light lenses if you want to ‘de-tango’, two sets of interior door mirror covers (one set modified to accept tweeters - not included), smoked and original orange side repeaters, radio pins and single DIN radio surround.

Bad bits:
- Sills were repaired for last years MOT, but the garage didn’t do a very neat job. Could do with cleaning up and painting however they’re solid and a problem most Puma’s hide well. Surface rust came up as advisory on this years MOT.
- Passenger rear arch is starting to bubble and driver’s rear arch is in need of a clean up or ideally professional repair. Repair sections specially imported from Germany come with the car, as the panels are not available in the UK.
- Back box heat shield has rusted through around the bolt holes so I’ve removed it. It’s not needed as the back box doesn’t get hot enough to affect the car’s underbelly but it is included.
- The usual odd stone chip and and dent for the age of car, pea sized paint chip on rear bumper by numberplate

Viewings welcome in Ashford, Kent by appointment only. Test drives welcome upon seeing valid driving licence and proof of insurance cover.

PRICE REDUCED TO £650ono

Price reduced to £650. We'd much rather it went to someone on here as we love this little car and would like it to be looked after rather than scrapped after a couple of years. Any interest?

Sold. The guy said he plans to keep it for a while and get the rust sorted so hopefully it will survive.
