Hi chaps and chapesses.....

My name is Karl and I have just bought a Puma. I have been into fast fords all my driving life, starting with XR2's and working my way through RS turbos, Escort Cossy and eventually a Focus RS, which was the best car I have ever owned.....

I now drive a land rover defender wolf, but my Girfriend had a pug 106. I have had no end of issues with it, and hated every moment of driving it, so I eventually persuaded her to trade it in. She has always liked the look of the Puma, so I have ended up becoming a part owner of a silver 1997 1.7 Puma. Its the best condition of all I looked at (most were rather rotten round the rear arches) and yet it is also the oldest with the highest milage...... Ce la vi... It has no rust in the arches at all, the engine was spot on and it drove as well as I remember from when they were new and I was a panel beater apprentice for Ford.......

So here I am, I plan to mod it, but only subtely (I dont want to be looking like a chav now do I....).

Well speak soon......

welcome. perhaps you should have a look at the project puma thread where people discuss what they have done to there car.

as djsound02 said thats the best place for ideas.

the usual can be said about mods. bigger wheels.. a bit lower.. sorted... the FRP is a common aim but a lot of people on here have truely unique pumas so just get browsing.

welcome along.

Welcome along - always good to have an experienced petrol head about the place :eek:k:

Hi Karl and welcome! It would seem the high milers ofter are the better buy - mine was 90k odd vgc where a 66k miler I looked at was awful.
Subtle is good - the Puma looks fab anyway :-D Lots of ideas on here and help everywhere. Looking forward to pics.

Cheers for the warm welcome.....

I will get some pics up but I dont collect it until next Sat (as long as it passes its MOT alright), so wont be until after then.

my basic plan is to change the wheels (I have hated those propeller wheels ever since they came out.....), lower it, FRP front splitter, clear side repeaters, clear indicator bulbs, and if I find one I would love to put an FRP or Millenium interior in it. thats about it for styling.

If I keep it for a long while (would love to get another focus RS in a few years), I will look into putting a focus RS Engine in, it cant be that hard???

we shall see though.....

As in an ex Forces Wolf?

Yep, I had a 90 wolf, but just sold it to buy a smashed 110 wolf straight from the army.

I also have a WMIK, and used to have an ex sas 110, 1 of 3 in private ownership, I sold it to a museum......
