the blower/heater selector cable went so I replaced with one from a 2001 model (mines a 98) the cable only seems to fit one way but when I select dor example the window the floor blows instead its always blowing the next one. am I missing somthing obvious here? or are there two types of cable?

Remove the heater control panel and you will see the plastic cogs that mesh together. One from the knob, the other that the plastic cable fits in.
Set it so it blows a certain vent. Then prize out the cog that the plastic cable fits in. Then turn knob to match the vent it was blowing then push the cog back in.
That should line the knob up to the vents.
You may notice the early Puma knobs would only go round so far and stop. The later ones go all the way round. And round. And round......
There is a difference between the two but never been able to work out why.
