considering getting some of these, kurust or something on the rust, then just cover it up, as car is just a budget banger, destined to be hooned on track

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/231059440254" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

anyone else tried similar... obviously in black, although if look ok, may get a rattle can and spray to get some sort of match for a fiver more.

spending more than total car cost on wheel arch repairs ain't gonna happen

many years ago, I did a similar thing to a mini with rusty doors, just rubbed down, treated, and 'wrapped' bottom half of car, cost sub 20 quid all in, looked fine, and for a freebie car did fine for a couple of years

Many people will laugh at this but frankly a full arch replacement just isn't a viable option for a lot of Pumas.

Its just too costly and uneconomical unless the car is in great shape in every other respect and you have a long term plan to keep it.

So anything that tidy's up your ride for almost no bucks has to be a good thing :eek:k:

Just don't expect many people to say so though :-D

Totally agree, I've always been into performance Volvo's (see that will make people smirk), but have always had the policy of if spending money on car doesn't
a. improve reliability
b. keep car maintained
c. make it go faster
d. make it handle better

its not worth it

I also struggle to understand people who buy all sorts of fancy brake pads and suspension then run car on budget tyres

I've just picked up set of new Toyo T1R's for 120 quid, so with fitting is only going to be £40 a corner, and IMHO is better investment than budget part worns, and 100 quid on detailing products

going to go for them and see how we go, for a few quid, got to be worth a punt.

I bought some of these for my Fiesta, they look well made and would have tidied the car up no end.

However I opted to do something foolish and have two new arches, 2 new sills and a lot of new paint.

order is in, parts have been dispatched, and winging their way from poland as I post, I recon (purely cos its easiest option) that black will look fine, if not, the rust holes will help anchor them on if I rip them off to paint, and mastic them back on

First track day next friday, so may or may not be on by then

Well the rear arches on My Puma looked pretty horrendous to say the least. However as this is a daily hack, I didnt want to go spending fortunes.

I already had a set of Mondeo arch lips that I purchased off a mate some time ago,who purchased them from your ebay link. so have utilised the front two on the rear of the Puma. I am not looking for perfection, just a little tidy up.

Here is part one of the fitting

The rust

The bonding - using a glue called Q bond. massively strong

Next step is a coat of filler and a good old sand down, then primer and spray.

Just one coat of black so far

Total cost £55 for both arches including filler and spray

That's not bad looking for £55!

I tend to come from the prevention camp, but I'm aware that it probably too late for most if not all Pumas now. I've treated inside and in the arches on mine as it was just starting to visibly bubble. I have no idea of I've arrested it or not. Time will tell.

OK, 20 mins of hard work, and wheel arches sorted, well chuffed with results, gave a good rub over with kurust B4, as far as I'm concerned, tidies up car no end

Very impressive. Personally, I think they look fine without any spraying.

What sort of width are they? Any other tips you can give on these?

Thanks.
